PS3 / PS 4 User, looking for an Hard Drive/SSD/Hybrid Upgrade

Leaning towards Hybrid, because it's most cost efficient, but I'm a little confused over a model I've been considering -

    vs.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...&tag=igco08-20

Basically, the first is the older model of the 2nd (per amazon).

The big difference being, the first (older) one has 7200RPM Hard drive, but only 32mb cache.

The Second (newer) one has 5200 RPM Hard Drive, but 64mg cache.

I really don't know much about hard drives, except that the PS3/PS4 ones can both be upgraded to better ones for FFXIV gameplay because of lag generated buy hard disk loading.

I welcome suggestions/thoughts. I'd like this to be an upgrade to both my PS3 and PS4 consoles primarily for use with FFXIV.

I'm kinda leading away from SSD, because I lose so much hard drive space without forking over 300$.

    Thanks!

I got this for my PS4 - http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electr.../dp/B00E3W16OU Great SSD and a great price considering its storage capacity.

I had been looking at the smaller version initially. That one breaks the bank for me. And anything smaller is a hard drive decrease.

The HDD cache doesn't really affect performance as far as games go, just go with the 7200RPM.

    Thanks.

The newer version was reviewed on IGN... but I figured if OEM is 5400 and the upgrade is 5400, you'd not get much benefit?

Mostly just trying to get over the huge lag issues from loading... and trying to avoid losing all my HDD to SSD cause I don't wanna throw a $500 drive in

I can't really comment on a 7200RPM HDD with FFXIV on PS3 but I can sayI've had an SSD in my PS3 and my load times have always been pretty snappy, and I've never really had the FATE loading issues most people do have.

I swapped my 5400RPM originally because I remember trying to play Uncharted 3 and things literally just were not loading it was that slow, I don't even want to begin to imagine how bad it would be on FFXIV.

Guess i'm torn between buying a hybrid, which is proven to be faster than what I got, or buying a cheap SSD, which is likely not going to have enough hard drive space for a ps4

I got the Seagate Momentus for my PS3, and works amazingly.
