Materia overmelding: does the success rate scale with any stat?

Hi all,

I'm doing some materia over melds for my FC and wanted to know if there are things I can do to increase the success rate (even by a few %)?
is it affected by any stats?

Use higher tier materia before all else. That's literally the only way to get the most out of materia (unless you're doing crafting gear which minimally would be tier 1 and 2 materia)

There is nothing you can do to affect the % except have a HQ item instead of a NQ item. The % drops with # of materia and their tier. The best 5th meld % i've seen I think is 8% with 4th meld being 11-13%. I'm only 5 melded maybe 10 items tho so I don't have a huge sample.

Thank you, I was afraid of that...
I find it very frustrating having to rely on pure luck with the overmelds.
I'll try to do some testing to confirm this by comparing the success rate with and without food.
I doubt it'll have any effect but it worth trying...

RNG gods don't exist. All the luck I need is with my Baby Raptor (not kidding)

It's basically just the grade of materia you're trying to add and how many materia you've successfully overmelded already. Putting a grade III into the 5th slot on a piece of gear that only had 1 guaranteed slot is 7%. I'm not crazy enough to overmeld grade IVs just yet.

Gonna be 'fun' to meld two offhands for each crafting class (one for max Control and one max Craft while keeping CP maxed for either), but don't really have anything better to do as a crafter right now so why not.

Good idea - one question though - is it possible to change the gear mid-craft? Either way I'll do that at least for my WVR first and then maybe for couple more others too ..

You cannot change gear mid craft.

Yeah - I've tested it last night and you can't indeed - would be way to easy I suppose otherwise.

I've first tried an 9% success. I've failed a 40% success 28 times in a row. I've also failed an 11% slot 97 times in a row and immediately did two 19% on first try. Its pure luck, and it can be infuriating sometimes.
