Summoner - Turn 5 Question

Hi all,

I have a quick question about SMN mechanics on turn 5. How are SMN's dps'ing the conflags while they are inside of them? I understand it works to bane your dots over to the conflag but I am just curious because once the conflag hits, it freezes your character. How would that work and what is best to optimize dps on the conflag?

I don't play a SMN (just started leveling one) but am curious as our T5 group has a SMN. We have no problems getting past conflag phase (We're on twisters) but our SMN accidentally did it once and I just wanted to understand the mechanic because I'm interested.

You aren't. You stand there and do nothing like everybody else. Well, technically you are still dealing damage to Twintania, but if you have the conflag, you do nothing. You can't even tell your pet to attack it.

I've always wondered if you used some super precise timing, whether you could cast Bane right as Conflag was about to solidify and actually spread the DoTs from Twintania to the conflag. But I've never wanted to waste the Aetherflow charges to try and find out.

What did your SMN do, Bane the DoTs while he was conflag'd?

Yeah, he was able to apply his dots to conflag while being the target of the conflag. I have also read elsewhere on the forums that this was possible so I was just curious.

The only way we reliably damage our own Conflags is with Shadow Flare.


Bane-ing onto your own conflag will never be reliable due to server latency, but it is possible.

Interesting. I’ve tried a few times to bane my dots over before I got stunned, but I never got the timing right and didn’t want to waste an aetherflow stack on continued attempts without knowing for sure if it actually could work. However, if you can actually do that then that changes things.
