why even bother with coil if all you have to do is play another game for 2 months, log in for a day and spam 13 minute WP runs and end up with the same gear? the way the system works now doesn't punish you for not playing, it just doesnt -reward you- for not playing.. which this would be doing. Its bad enough myths are far too easy to get, but now you want it so you dont even have to actually play the game to get large amounts of them.

The amount of playtime required to obtain the tomes would be exactly the same. Your argument makes no sense.

it makes perfect sense.. the OP suggests making the rollover keep up to 2000 points.. that means you can cancel your sub for months, resub for a couple of days, burn 13 minute WP and have the same number of myth items as someone who was playing the whole time. thats just silly.

Un-sub/re-sub issue was discussed previously on this page, and there are several good solutions; suspended accumulation for inactive accounts and lowering the cap to a more reasonable amount than 2000 (3-4 weeks worth of points).

Switching to a levequest-style system wouldn't hurt anyone, but it would benefit many.

what would be the point though, if you dont have time to play, you dont have time to play. leve system hardly equates to making it easier for people to earn ilvl90 gear in ilvl55 content.

But seriously though, why should people who actually have time to play not be able to make any more progress than someone who doesn't?

Because we're all paying the same price to play?

I think Yoshi's reasoning was along the lines of something like "People who only play one hour a week will get discouraged that they're not at the same progress as someone who played 10 hours a week." Why he thinks that's a problem was never explained though.

But the solution is to make sure no one can progress further than that hypothetical slowest progressing casual player who will become so distraught over the prospect of having to actually spend time playing the game to progress that they quit altogether.

So you dont think anyone would be discouraged because they have tons of time to play but cant progress because this guy doesnt have time for a MMO? thats not a solution at all. sooner or later people realize that their extra time is wasted and they quit. we already have plenty of people who say they log in to cap and thats it for the week because the game is designed not to have to spend any time. a proper solution is some kind of middle ground where people who have no time can get good gear, but people who have the time should always have something to work towards and they dont. theres a difference between limiting to slow down the rate of which people blow through content, and limiting people because of other people's time.

Because we're all paying the same price to play?
What does this have to do with anything? We all pay the same price so we should be able to progress as much as we want without being limited by other people. If i go to an all you can eat buffet, should i only be allowed to eat a small salad because thats all the skinny vegan chick ate? but we paid the same price!

You're missing my argument entirely. My point isn't in favor of slowing down the content with the caps, but that it would be convenient for people who can't play as often to have uncollected tomes rollover into the next week's cap. Which you still seem to be against for reasons I don't understand other than "I don't want people who don't play as often to have a decent chance of ever catching up."

It's actually a great idea have no idea why people are against it because people still have to run the dungeons like crazy to catch up anyways.
