Dislike it a lot too. If I had nothing to do, I'd be more likely to pay extra subscriptions while grinding out myth gear freely for different classes then I would if I could play 3 hours a week getting it that way, because it's not like people say - you wouldn't get the gear "in a day" and it most definitely wouldn't be "handed to you for free" - it would be one heck of a grind, but if people feel they can always log on to progress, they'll be more inclined to stay. The whole throttling is to get more money, nothing else.
Still, WoW, RIFT and SWTOR has it this way, and I'm sure it's going to stay the same here too even if the premises with different classes is nothing like how it works in those games. Gotta fit the mold.
The idea with having it more like leves is a good one. That's something I could see them doing (it's in WoW, isn't it? At least with the PvP currency there).
The use of the myth cap as an equalizer for player gear and stabilizer for DF was genius. Sorry if you don't see how much business sense it makes to keep players logging in and participating in your match making system as opposed to capping their gear out in a few weeks and not logging in until the next content release. SE's use of the capped token system makes the game more enjoyable for the vast majority of players. Deal with it (until it is gone).
It was well thought out - Sorry you can't get some of the best gear the second you hit 50.
They said they will not drop it nor is it the correct solution just because you want some of the best gear the second you hit 50. They're raising the cap to 450/week, that's an accessory a week or a piece every 2 weeks. ARR is easy mode, yes, but they do need to keep people around with a lack of content.
MMOs normally don't and shouldn't reward people for not playing lol.
Tupsi pretty much nailed it. We can move on from this thread.
But it's not an equalizer, that's half the issue. If you miss a week, you're just a week behind now. Nothing you can do about it. Sure, a lot of folks don't get their full 300/300 each week, but then again, a lot do. If they allowed the unused portion to roll over into the next weeks allotment, up to the 2000 tome cap, then it would be an equalizer.
I'm glad we have your permission. Lets ride it out a bit further though.

Remove Af 1.5 from the vendors and all the fending gear from the vendors etc etc, then they can drop the myth cap.
AF 1.5 gear should be token drops from the hardest content in the game. E.g. Drop a token on HM Titan, Turn1, Turn2, Turn4, and Turn 5.
AF 2 should be a token from Extreme Ifrit, Turn 6, 7, 8, 9..... etc
The tokens should be RNG based and drop randomly each week so no one gets their crap in one shot unless they got really lucky.
The cap exists to allow people to get gear, not prevent them from getting it.
Yoshi P. actually addressed this in saying they're upping it to 450. You can gear up faster. You're good right?
