How bad was your first WP run?

Just hit 50 with PLD last night, and wanted to run WP as a test to see how bad I will be.

I had 3 DL accessories, AF1 gear, i55 weap, and i49(i think) GC shield.

Ran with +1 blm, relic whm, and mnk (dont remember his gear). Lets just say i had a hell of time keeping aggro.

Final result was 32min run with 2 wipes.
First wipe was right before the 2nd boss, i ran to unlock the door to second boss and other party member got aggro'd by big tonberry. While it's not directly my fault, i feel like i made run for it in the wrong time.

Second wipe was at the final boss. I had adds on me and the boss hit me with 3 stacks and i died.

Just wanted to know how badly you guys did in your first WP run

My first WP run, PLD was my first tanking class, really wasn't that bad. But this was also months ago and relics were very few and far between. I was fortunate enough to get ifrit's blade on my 3rd kill and so back at that time my threat gen was more than it needed to be in both WP and AK. Back then no one speed ran or aoe'd anything.

Blob was much harder, you'd be surprise at how many groups couldn't get past the blob.

My first run failed here, badly, to the point that we ended up throwing in the towel on him and trying again later. Also was way back, before everyone had relics/+1 and i90 gear to run with. We were mostly geared in AF/GC stuff, I had some items from 1.0 AV/CC runs on me and ifrit's blade, but damned if it wasn't hard lol

Oh and we had no idea what to expect as it was literally all of our first run and not one of us looked for a guide/video because we enjoy the feeling of "new" stuff, figuring it out ourselves, and we typically don't mind dying.

Of course now it's a whole new story since all anyone wants is SR and full DL/relic or better, it's really not the same ; ;

Never had a problem with WP on my other classes, though my tank isn't quite high enough to run it yet.

Last night I had an abysmal Chimera run though. I left a really good FATE party in Coerthas because people had been shouting for one DPS for a Chim. run for like a half hour and I decided to be a boyscout. Went and joined them with my relic SMN.

It went very poorly. The tank was a PLD wearing full AF, NQ AH gear, and an NQ Goblin Longsword. I'm not a gearwhore, but my lord. He couldn't hold hate, he died at around 50% 8 or 9 times. What the heck was he even going for a relic for? Was he going to run Coil in AF with a Curtana? Chimera's not a hard fight, but the tank has to have some defense and more than 3800HP.

Ran WP plenty of times before people cared about the myth, just for fun since the Tonberry Stalkers made the dungeon exciting when you couldn't chain pull significantly. First run went smoothly til the pudding boss, which we wiped on a bunch of times before giving up and restarting. Pretty sure that boss causes anyone unfamiliar with the dungeon trouble to be fair. It was really great seeing the Tonberry King for the first time, though. It was a bad disappointing when he was way easier than the pudding boss, but it was probably my favorite dungeon until I had to start speed running it. No more fearing that the Stalker would catch up and stab us all. ; _ ;

got told by a DPS to get out of dungeon because my gear wasn't good enough . Came back in full DL with Relic and wtfpwned it .

However I now tell DPS to gtfo of dungeon if they are under geared .. what comes around goes around .

I prefer to look at it as "two wrongs don't make a right."

My first WP run was a ton of fun! It was pre nerf, and we had several wipes as we were all there for the first time. But It was a really fun group, nobody raged and we all thought the mechanics were quite interesting.

I only ran it once before the change, so I don't remember all the specifics. But you didn't need oils to open doors, and the second boss was a lot harder. Or maybe we were just under geared. But I think I had my BRD relic by then so that shouldn't be the case.
