They should simply let us enable lock-on without the retarded zoom when playing with legacy controls...
I don't want to have the camera zoomed to the ground and look up to Twintania.

Here is a video demonstration showing what separates a great MNK apart from good MNKs.:this does NOT make your character face the enemy in legacy controls. try it out on a random enemy without using skills and just circling around an enemy.
and @cynric: i'm not talking about the time when i stand still, but about the time when i'm on the move. And if i use lock on, i might as well use standard controls, because you will lose time when you have to disengage the lock first before escaping an AoE

Consider binding your lock-on key closer to your movement keys so you can lock/unlock in sync with movement. You can't possibly "lose" more than a tenth of a second unless you're missing fingers.
And now with controller please~Here is a video demonstration showing what separates a great MNK apart from good MNKs.:

Yeah I must really suck, I don't see whats so great about holding the right mouse button while moving anyone should be able to do it.
The only problem I see is that legacy with controller is kinda awkward when it comes to strafing, I have to constantly use lock-on, it works but it's a hassle because the camera position goes bonkers.

While that "great Monks don't use controllers" trolling attempt by the person above was indeed smug as all hell and not necessary, I unfortunately do not believe you can do what is being done on that video with the gamepad. I was trying some different ways to get around having to use lock-on while playing on my 360 controller and couldn't see any method for doing so.Yeah I must really suck, I don't see whats so great about holding the right mouse button while moving anyone should be able to do it.

@OP - Nah, man. Change A and D to strafe, then Legacy works fine for me on my DRG. If that doesn't work, rebind W and R to Lock On, so they're easy to press no matter which direction you're strafing. And get a side-button mouse like the Naga. ;P

Oh I did not say I can do that with a controller, as of now it's not possible to strafe without lock-on on legacy with a controller. While that "great Monks don't use controllers" trolling attempt by the person above was indeed smug as all hell and not necessary, I unfortunately do not believe you can do what is being done on that video with the gamepad. I was just trying to say it's a very simple thing to do with mouse and keyboard and does not require a "video guide" per se.
Hopefuly they fix the camera going in a really awkward position when using the lock-on funktion with L3 since they did mention that they do something about the camera on legacy controlls.
Maybe there's an easy solution with X-padder to make it work without limiting the keybinds too much... I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I posted about this same issue hoping for some quality of life changes with the legacy setting for ps3/gamepad players. I found a solution although it's a little excessive, all you have to do is macro EVERY attack like so: /macroicon /facetarget /ac "insertskill". Doing this will allow you to queue up your next attacks while moving between flank/rear etc and still facing the target doing auto attacks. So if you do Bootshine+truestrike+snappunch just rapidly tap the next skills in that order even when they are on cooldown and you will keep facing the target. They could fix this by making you face your target when tapping skills on cooldowns but they only face your target AFTER* the skill has been used. I recommend anyone using a gamepad to give that macro setup a try.
