    First Paladin Endgame Dungeon

Hi guys I've searched through the forums, but this is my problem.

As a tank, it is mandatory to be able to survive hits, but I am a fresh lvl 50 tank, WP and CM are on my duty list, CM being part of the story line. With just a set of Artifact gear and with most market place crafted gear being too expensive, which is the first dungeon I can attempt to get started?

Thanks for any advise, am really confused.

If you have full AF and a level 50 weapon you are geared enough for WP, CM, and Praetorium.

They are all entry-level and intended to be done in AF. You can do Amdapor Keep perfectly fine, too.

CM and Praetorium are good dungeons if you are looking to upgrade in to some Darklight armor. As a new tank, always prioritize your body and leg pieces first. You should be able to handle most dungeons. Wanderer's Palace and Amdapor Keep will be challenging if it is your first time, but you should not have many problems if your group knows what they're doing.

Those two dungeons will drop your 3rd best set of gear, so you are encouraged to find either the Vermillion or Hoplite green sets. Ideally, you will be buying Darklight and artifact2 gear with the tomes of philosophy and myth you're earning. A good portion of those two dungeons is knowing the specific tactics and strategies used. I would recommend watching a walkthrough for the dungeon, but I can outline the trickiest portions for you.

First, pick up a lvl50 weapon. You can purchase 1 from your Grand Company using Seals, pick up a darklight macuhitl from Wanderer's Palace, or buy/craft an Aeolian Scimitar from the marketboards. Either of these are great options and will help you later on when you're attempting your relic.

Wanderers Palace is the easier of the two. The key to this dungeon is avoiding the big tonberries that will hit you for half your hp in damage. They only spawn at certain points and follow you. Keep an eye on those and drag the mobs away from them as soon as you can. If one catches up to you and aggros, there is a big chance of a wipe. The entire dungeon relies heavily on your dps, you are just pacing it. Try to keep aggro and don't be afraid to use your CDs.

Amdapor Keep is tricky as it requires the tank to mark and prioritize interrupting or dodging specific mobs. Failing to do so results in powerful monsters being summoned or large amounts of damage. Be wary of succubi, cultists, and dullahans. Dodging some of their attacks require you to run behind these enemies or using a stun. All three bosses require specific positioning, so watching a video for them will help immensely in preparing. Once you know what to do though, it is not difficult at all.

Thank you for both your replies, it gave me enough courage to enter CM and led the group for the 2nd run.

    Now, for the 4 mans...

If you're looking for an option to get stronger weapons, try Ifrit Hard Mode. He is meant to be able to be completed using only AF gear. It's a fun fight too, for a fresh 50.

Yeah, WP/AK are very doable in AF. You're not going to be speedrunning it like that, though, which is fine. Just make sure you don't get stuck in one of those groups. It's more about knowing what to do, as far as victory goes.

For instance, the Tonberry King can take some getting used to. The DPS actually have to pay attention as they kill adds, and if they don't, you will die.

    What Delenia said.

It's maybe 10-15 minutes and after a run or two it will become second nature and a shot at a iLevel60 weapon.

You can tank Garuda in full AF too, not just Ifrit. Garuda drops a better weapon too, so I'd recommend farming that instead of Ifrit for a weapon. If you can, get a nice FC/LS group to run you through AK for the first time. AK is nice for fresh level 50s because it drops an almost full gear set for each job.

    Wanderer's Palace Over and over

I'm kinda a nut for getting gear so I did WP (Wanderer's Palace) until I had my weapon/full set of gear (its not as hard as it may sound).

Then when you get head/hands/legs/feet (body Optional since AF is i55 already) and hopefully those weapon/and shield. Move on to AK which is much more difficult.

Not impossible just a tad harder on the tanking/skill level.

Before you know it you'll have some DL armor and wont need as much armor from AK.

Feel free to tank Ifrit for weapon as well. Ifrit is intended for AF gear. So go for it!

Your main challenge in WP/AK will be holding aggro off of DPS with far better gear than you. Also, you will have to deal with the frustration of geared players expecting a speed run.

Don't get discouraged. Take the group at whatever pace you can realistically sustain. Don't let them pressure you into pulling so fast that you wipe.

It's actually a good learning experience.
