Should I do everything on one character?

I know I can technically do everything on one character, but was wondering if its a good idea to do so. Currently leveling a pugalist into a monk, but I also want at least a lancer into a dragoon. Was thinking of doing it on the same character because I was told I can just do fates for the second and third ect class, but I'm now thinking of doing it on two separate characters since I'll have to level up either way and I assume gear up for each class/job as well.

So yeah should I do everything on one character or split it up across two since everything has to be leveled up no matter what and I'd at least be questing instead of fate spamming for the later classes?

To get Monk as a job, you'll have to level Lancer to at least 15. Also, since Dragoon can pull from Pugilist skills, it makes more sense to do the two jobs on the same character.

Additionally, some of the same gear can be used for both Lancer and Pugilist, especially accessories.

How bad is the grinding get lancer to 30 and i forget to 15 for a dragoon since I'm using up all of my quests leveling the pugalists and then i assume the monk? I'm actually a person that hates pointless grinding. I'd rather do the same line of questing with some instances thrown in instead of running around from fate to fate especially because so far on Sargatanas the ones Ive done have been primarily done by me with maybe another person or two

There are actually a lot of benefits when you diversify your skills. For example, Blood for Blood is a powerful damage buff obtained by cross-classing with Lancer. It is only obtainable if you level lancer to 34 however. You will find that access to these cross-class skills are beneficial. Even at low level, having access to the Protect buff and some healing can make solo-play and questing much easier.

You do gain a 50% xp bonus for completing leves and FATEs for any combat class lower than your highest level, and this does stack with the "rested" buff if you log off in a sanctuary or inn. This greatly speeds up your leveling by nearly doubling your xp gain. It is actually fairly easy to reach level 10 just by doing hunting logs and 2 or 3 FATEs. You will have new questlines starting from the cities as early as level 5. There are probably enough for 2 or 3 classes if you stretch them. After level 10, you can use guildhests and levequests instead of FATEs while finishing your hunting log. Once you reach lvl15, you can do dungeons and those should be much easier to find parties for after patch 2.1 in mid-December. Unfortunately, it does take a lot of grinding to level the alternate classes. It is just a matter if you prefer FATEs, dungeons, or quests/leves.

How much spreading out of questing are we talking? And correct me if I'm wrong but you're making it sound like I can only max a Pugalist, Lancer, and Monk before i run out of quests so I'd have to make a new toon to make a dragoon and max its everything? So far in my search of a server I've hit level 11, but that was through doing every single quest I've found and fates/hunts I've found as I go. I haven't gone searching for either because like I said I'm not a fan of just killing X especially because so far the servers I've looked at are dead when it comes to low levels.

So yeah are you saying there's only enough quests to "spread out" for a job and its two classes before I just have to grind the fuck out of fates and how much spreading out would need to be done because like I said so far I'm doing every quest and very little "grinding"

Dungeons are getting an XP boost in about 2-3 weeks so you will be able to do those. They are also boosting the XP reward from guildleves as well as adding more quests (including repeatable ones).

So essentially once that patch hits you will have multiple viable means of leveling up besides FATEs.

And don't forget you get a 50% xp boost just for having a class higher level than your current one.

Also logging out in an Inn and within some Aetherite areas (not in the starter cities) grants you a rested EXP bonus, use it!

Although it is a rough estimate, you will have 5 to 10 quests per level bracket (10-14, 15-19, etc) in areas around the starting cities. While they are useful, they do not provide enough experience to level all of the classes you want. Likely, if you are gaining 90% of your exp from quests as you prefer, you will max your pugilist/monk (the job "promotion" for each class shares the exp with the base class and the class and job will level up together) and just almost max Lancer/Dragoon.

I personally did hunting logs and FATEs until level 15. After that, I usually ran dungeons if I could find a group, and did quests while I waited. I tended to avoid FATEs when possible, but it was undoubtedly the fastest and most popular way to level. There is a huge problem with grinding after you finish the quests. Fortunately, this is a problem the development team has acknowledged and they are implementing a series of rewards to levequests and dungeons to make those just as effective leveling options as FATEs. Some details can be found on the temporary producer's letter thread if you're interested.

Unfortunately, they have not mentioned any plans to add more quests or renew them. Levequests are repeatable quests, but I find the combat leves to be the same four or five variations and would rather spend them to level crafting/gathering. Keep in mind I haven't tried all the combat levequests, so there might be a few gems that I missed. Either way though, you will probably have trouble leveling after the quests are expended. I found solace in dungeons, but I can't say the same will apply to you.

So from what I'm getting the only reason I would want to make a second character is if I just want a different race from my Miqo'te and don't want to completely grind Maraduar and Dragoon since I'll use up most if not all of my quests leveling up my Pugilist, Lancer, and Monk to at least their useful levels if not 50. Right?

Like I've said. I don't enjoy grinding but have been trying to throw fates in when I can, unfortunately on the first two servers I tried have been pretty desolate at low level. Gonna try Baelmug next. So far seems to be lively I'll know for sure later.

If it works out and I can actually grind there with people and find a good leveling FC I could probably see myself manning up and just grinding it out. That or I may just want a new race bad enoughal and I make an elezen or hyur.

How many instances are there or what ever they're called here?

My biggest worry is that since I've so far been grinding by myself I'll have to all the way instead of when I want to like it is now.
