    Every single piece of content / dungeon they add to this game has some lore behind it. This isn't WoW (hate to have to use wow as an example since everyone does) where 90% of the time you aren't even sure why you're doing a raid / quest. Most if not all dungeons have at least have some lore associated with it. With that being said, why is it wrong they want to make it difficult to start with and easy mode later on? They want people to feel achievement by seeing and reading what happens next in the story.. if it were easy, would you still feel that achievement? /shrug I guess it's just a difference of opinion between us.

    Either way, I'm all for how they're instituting it (hard at first, ezmode buffs later).

    lol now now...i wasn't being sarcastic at all, if you read somewhere back in one of the pages i mentioned in one of my posts i am casual/hardcore, i found this thread discussion really informative and entertaining to say the least, some people from both camps made very good valid arguments...cept the watch the storyline thing on youtube...that's just dumb period, I was not either for or against either side of the argument...i just thought there should be a better solution for the casual player base to experience the "optional" part of the story line...and what do you know a mod came in and let us know something will be in the works!...yay.

    Also, I guess this settles the recently brought up point regarding development time. However, I am still left with no understanding of why something like this would devalue anyone else's experience. (I'm also wondering what the time frame is for this, but, alas, I guess I will have to wait )

    Also, sincere thanks to everyone in this thread who kept the discussion an actual discussion. As exasperated as I sometimes got, I'm very proud that the vast majority of us here did not resort to mudslinging or personal insults. And now that I think of it, finding people like that in game is another reason why I keep playing ^^

    It makes it easier which in turn makes the win feel less satisfying. That can devalue other player's experiences. Unless of course if it's an option you can toggle on/off but if that happened there would need to be some form of penalty for using the buffs unless most people would just refuse to do the normal mode without buffs in anyway.
    But yeah making it easier can devalue other people's experience who enjoy the challenge. I personally really enjoy shmups. If I had the harder difficulties taken out of the games I played then I would get bored fast and just not bother to play anymore. Just wouldn't be fun.
    Perhaps not the best example though as the difficulty in those games is part of what makes me love them.

    Agreed. Some of the best games have difficulty settings. Not ones that are imposed, but ones that are *chosen*.
