This is a copy of a letter I just sent to the "suggestions for the special task force" section of the square enix support site, however I would like to also see other players' opinions on the matter, as I'm sure many players have similar concerns.
"First off I apologize that this will be a fairly long letter.
I have been having worries lately that my account may be banned in the future due to activities that at the time I didn't realize may be considered exploits.
The activities in question include fishing at grade 6 or higher nodes, which I didn't think would be an exploit since it's perfectly within the game's boundaries for gaining sp on fisher and the best sp you can get even with doing this is 20k/hr which is about on par with what other jobs get.
The second is deliberately abandoning levequests just before completing them to ensure that I get them again in the next levequest reset, this is quite obviously an exploit, but it seems that the vast majority of the playerbase do this to repeatedly get the leves giving the best sp.
The third and final thing I've been doing that it seems some consider exploitive is having other players voluntarily link their leves into my levequest to perform a full link to maximize sp gain, then having those players leave the party so that even more sp is gained per enemy by killing the enemies with the bare minimum amount of players, thereby focusing the sp from several players' levequests on one player, I previously believed this to simply be a very clever way of maximizing sp gain per leve, but it seems others also consider this an exploit.
My reasoning for sending this letter is threefold, first I'd like to confirm whether and which of these are considered bannable offenses, secondly I'd like to ask that, in the event that any of these are bannable, square enix be lenient on the players involved in these, given that these actions are ambiguous as to whether or not they are exploits, and players have put a lot of time and effort into their characters.
My third reason for sending this letter is to suggest a system in which a brief description of bannable exploits be posted in "warning" notices on the lodestone and upon login in-game, and people only be banned for commiting these exploits from a certain amount of time after the notice has been posted, I realize that this may make people who were previously unaware of the exploits try them out, but more likely it will stop most people from doing the exploits long before the exploit is ready to be fixed. It would also allow people like me to go about playing without worry of being banned for actions that I am unaware were bannable exploits.
I imagine such a system has already been considered several times in the past, but please give the idea some more consideration, I believe it would help a great deal in promoting fair play in the future.
Thank you for your time and I hope for a rapid reply to alleviate my worries."
It wasn't until I finished sending it that the site came up with a message something to the effect of:
"Thank you for your inquiry, your feedback will be taken into consideration, unfortunately we do not give individual responses to feedback and suggestions."
Which kind of made my questions to them in this letter rather meaningless.
Anyway, feedback on this suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
