Please allow us to completely disable controller presets (PC Version)

I know this is kind of niche but I'm someone that plays with a controller on the PC, and I hate being limited to the crossbar. I've gotten used to dealing with it by having certain macros and switching between 2 sets, but I know that I could play much more optimally if I could just use all the extra hotbar spaces that keyboard/mouse players get and have the freedom to change the button configuration to EXACTLY what I wanted.

For other MMO's I use a program like xpadder (hope it's okay to mention it) that let you map keyboard/mouse commands to any controller button.

I feel like there are so many extra options I could have if I were able to do this, and that there's no reason to force pushing a thumbstick in to put me in a first-person camera POV or lock-on to an enemy (either of these often get me killed when they accidentally happen). I would simply switch to the keyboard/mouse option to get the extra hotbar space, but unfortunately those controller presets are locked in no matter what. I'm not sure what is so difficult about allowing me to totally disable them.

I hate that I'm forced to use a trigger for even my most basic attack, or that trying to switch filters mid-combat or an accidental button press (left bumper / L1) will cause me to auto-run, which serves no purpose whatsoever for me in combat (especially for a casting class).

I'm not sure why they even give players the mediocre option to edit the button configuration, when there's no real editing options. EXAMPLE: Right thumbstick, I would like to set this to "nothing." I have a choice of either "change camera", "draw weapon/lock on", or "Sit/lock on", all 3 of which do nothing but lead to me getting killed if accidentally pressed. Of course, if I could map the buttons any way I wanted, I would set it to something actually useful like "focus target" or "assist." I could create a macro for this, but that takes 1 of my already limited crossbar spaces (and in the meantime a thumbstick press is still useless and has the potential to kill me).

I understand I may be one of very few players who care about this, and I understand it is possible to clear turn 5 with the current (horrible) *forced* controller presets and limited hotbar space. And I know that many will say "hey just use a keyboard/mouse, problem solved." But I don't want to play with a keyboard/mouse, and personally I feel that if I can edit the button commands with complete freedom that I could be just as effective if not faster on a controller.

It annoys me that I can't play as optimally as if I had the ability to set up my controller the way I WANT, and is unfair. Please allow us to set things up the way we prefer, instead of forcing stupid buttons like the thumbsticks or back/select button having a limited number of useless commands that we can't even set to "none."

I play on PC with an XBOX controller and I agree. In addition to the issues your bring up, I would like to be able to fully customize my layout. I would keep my normal crossbar abilities and use keyboard commands for off crossbar abilities.

I'm curious, have you tried enabling the PC hotbars on your controller set? I too play on a PC with the Xbox controller and I use the crossbar for my main abilities and hotbars 1-2 for the other abilities. This means that I have the most used abilities at hand while the ones that I use less often are one key (or crtl+key) away; including macros. You can try a similar setup and see if that works for you. This is an advantage that us PC players have over console gamers; console gamers do not have access to the PC hotbars, but we have access to the crossbar. I know this because my sister plays the game on the PS3.

I'm completely with you. I wish I could disable a button so I could ise it as a push-to-talk for the voice chat my FC has set up. I also wouldn't mind switching my LB from auto-run to another crossbar page to add some more skills without switching pages (of course I realize this would be a bit more difficult).

well I don't use a controller but players who do shouldn't be annoyed by this.

i'm still missing the original 1.0 controller setup. it would be completely awesome to have the option to go back to the 3 pc style bars even if all 3 showed up and could use them completely. 1 cross hotbar is not enough and when using 2 and having a pet it gets jumbled pretty quickly while using a controller.
