Yoshida and the PSO2 devs discuss a collaboration but its neither yes, no or maybe.

I loved PSO and enjoyed PSU, but I am not fond of PSO2.

What I'd want: Dragon, Dark Falz and De Rol Le FATEs with mag pets or classic PSO weapons as a reward. (The initial quest being given by an Elezen dressed like Jean-Carlo Motague... oh yes :3 )

What would likely happen:

PSO2 thus far disregards the lore of the original PSO and the lore of the franchises they collaborate with so I imagine on their side they'll just throw in an AC gacha with FFXIV themed costumes and mag skins and leave it at that.

For FFXIV, it would probably be similar to the Lightning event with Quna appearing out of the blue to kill darkers and we'd get a tacky default one piece Hunter costume.

If it goes through, it'll be the closest thing to experiencing PSO as I've never played it.
It really looks cute and that emergency quest sounds like fun.

Contemplated making a post about this, as I play PSO2 quite a bit... but if this does happen in the future, I expect PSO2 to get costumes(probably the starting costume for miqote and possibly the warrior set, as they seem to like showing the main character in the trailers using that quite a bit). If they make this a little more elaborate like the Border Break collab, then we might even see a FF boss as part of a city event quest or something, perhaps maybe Garuda or the end boss of the main story since she imitates a lot of the bird darkers from the game, and the end boss is well... I don't need to say more. As for FF? We'll probably see a HUmar and HUnewearl outfit, and at most, we may see a small event with a fate where you fight Falz Hunar(but I sincerely doubt that'll happen).

I missed the wave on PSO (never had a Dreamcast) but I understand that it's well-loved by many people. Also never played PSO2 (might if it comes out in English on Vita/PS4). That said, I love a good, dumb collabo. This idea gets my thumbs up.

While the development teams of both games might like a collaboration, until Sega and SE actually agree to this, I'm liable to take this with a grain of salt. Collaborations between different games in a single company is more likely than a crossover between different intellectual properties owned by separate companies.

Still, if something does come of this, I can just hear all the FFVII fans dying inside and whimpering "WHY U NOT DO FFVII CROSSOVER YOSHI?!"

I Loved PSO Dreamcast, with my experience with the phantasy star online/universe franchise I honesty hope it don't happen. My wife and I love FFXIV.
