Player Poll: What Specifically is it you want from an "Auction House"

It takes literally about five times as long for me to buy an item as it did in FFXI, and that's assuming I buy the correct one.

Let's say I just leveled up my LNC to 17 and need to look at a new armor tier. Where do I begin? Does LNC prefer leather stuff? What kind of hats? LNC can wear multiple kinds, and in order to even compare these I have to jump back and forth between divisions. I can't sort by level, so even within a single page I have to go back and forth between several pages of data to compare two pieces. Oh, but now I see, this one's out of stock, guess I just wasted my time there! I look the other one up, 15 results, most of them in Tinkerer's Ward. I mark them starred, and then head to Tinkerer's Ward. Hopefully I didn't mix up retainer names, otherwise I'd end up buying someone else's hat as opposed to the cheaper one I wanted. 5 minutes later, I've bought a single item.

Now then, I finally have a hat. Now I get to go back to the counter and look up data for what, 9 other slots? /logoff

An auction house wont fix this. The only way to fix this is to continue to clean the search system up.

Your comments all reflect on the unorganization of the Search System. Adding an AH wont fix the search system. They'ed use the same one until they Fixed the search system. Right now the Search System works to an extent but it does need to be able to set filters and other things. These can be implemented but again that takes time to code. I know this much because I work in a Database Development group.

Pfft. Query filters and ETL are the easy part. The hard part is rewriting the UI to wire in query requests to correspond to those new targets. And if the game is designed correctly, where entries in the UI can be stubbed in, *neither* is "hard". I know this much because I am a developer with a passion for HCI.
