    Crystal Tower - ilvl 55 Requirement/ilvl80 Drops?

What confuses me is does CT mean Darklight armor will now be useless? All you have to do is run WP/AK a few times each, maybe pick up 1 Darklight piece from the WP/AK runs you just did and you can easily just skip Darklight? It seems a little far fetched that a ilvl55 dungeon drops such high level gear and since it's done on the DF it doesn't seem like it'll be the same as Coil with all the lockouts.

Does anyone else feel like there's something wrong here or is it just me? I'm only just finishing collecting my DL armor and now I feel like it's going to be useless and I'll need ilvl80 before the majority of Coil parties will bother thinking about accepting me.

There's also the fact we could spam it for our alt gear, which again eliminates all reason to gain DL equipment. I like options, but I don't like losing options to gain new ones.

This is all assuming there's no lockouts of any kind and that CT drops every piece of equipment for ilvl80, of course.

RNG is gonna make it a lot more hellish for some to get a full set of equips compared to DL. Now you get a choice of skipping DL altogether from AK gear. That's supposed to be a good thing right?

All the iLevel 80 gear is job specific and you're running with several other people that may or may not be in need of the same items you are after.
Aside from that, we don't know yet how many pieces will drop per run, or how long a single run will take.

I would not write DL off just yet, as far as I could read CT will also drop Tomestones so DL is pretty much guaranteed.
You can choose to skip it, but getting at least a few pieces will still make you more efficient.

Ilevel 55 will be the minimum. This means at best this will be like grinding out AK with AF and GC weapons. I see the average gear set for CT being a mix of AK and DL and Ifrit weapon.

They said 1 piece of gear per boss and the timer is limited to 90min so I guess at most 3 bosses per run.
But I agree with OP, a full set of ilv55 cost less than 150k on AH, any fresh lv50 can buy them and maybe cost them another 100k to full meld it and they will be good for CT. This makes the DL grinding and melding ilv70 (which are way more expensive than DL) pointless. Just DF CT like crazy and you will get carried by full DL team.

    Edit: words

I highly doubt the CT gear will replace DL. After all, its a 24 man raid which means speed running it will be next to impossible. Also, with all of the other content that will drop tomes like the HM dungeons; DL will still be infinitely easier to get than CT gear. It will essentially be designed so that you follow the natural progression. You will naturally end up with DL gear in your way to full CT.

Will coil runs demand CT gear? Probably, but it wont make DL useless. If you're just starting to get DL then you will just end up getting priority when people form parties for it.

I can't wait until you start seeing spams like: LFM BC must be full iLvl80 gear... lol. Because you know... that's totally required to get up through turn 4...

There's no problem with requiring iLv80 for your own party. However it's stupid if they start preaching it to others.

But I'm not that worried about it. There's the party board and it supposedly is based on tried and tested 1.0 (XI?) technology that a lot of veteran players liked. Maybe shouts themselves will cease to be the way to form parties for BC.
