To the OP you might want to consider grabbing a cheap USB drive. When I built my new desktop rig I didn't even bother with a CD drive, it was something that I used so little on my old desktop that I felt it didn't warrant a purchase.

A USB drive for £10 will come in handy for those 1 - 2 times a year you do need a CD drive though
