    I've been a long time fan of Summoners throughout many FF games. I'm ok with the current implementation. I really have no idea what all the fuss is about. Does the size of the EGI really ruin people's immersion so bad that they forget they are playing an FF game and think they are a Warlock in WoW?

    EGI is not a full on Summon. There is nothing to compare to previous games, because EGIs were not used there. You summoned Ifrit himself, not a fraction of Ifrit's power. It is the only way to make sense of it in a world where you can have potentially unlimited numbers. There is only one Ifrit, you can't have multiple people summoning 1 guy. Hence the EGIs.

    I am content with the implementation, their look, size, functional and your ability to control them. DoTs are not the typical wheelhouse of SMN, but I think the implementation is good, and I enjoy it, more than any other DPS class.

    It's not the size of the summons that bugs me, it's the location. One of the things I loved about Carby was that she stayed on the ground. She didn't float around my head, like some annoying, oversized mosquito. The worst part of the floaters is when they float between me (the RL player) and my character, essentially blocking my view of pretty much everything onscreen.

    Even when they stay off to the side, they float/bounce/hover and are basically distracting. I just want to swat them away.

    If you completed the summoner quest lines, you will realize that the summons are not their intended sizes. If the BLM's tier III spells were the size of a Lala's head or Holy the size of Garuda Egi, both players of these jobs would complain as they did back in 1.0.

    Since I'm requesting that the player have the choice on how summons are viewed on their screen (or viewed at all from other players), why should you be so negatively concerned at all with my post? If SE considers my request, you will have the option to maintain the summon's compact form.

    If SE allows an option to veiw summons at their intended sizes, they should make closer contact with the ground as they do with the "rival summoner's" summons.

    Also it sounds like the "Hidden" option would suite you perfectly =).

    Hmm... less likes than there are posts complaining about Egi size combined. Come on guys! I know there's more ppl out there who wish Egi were slightly larger, other players who wish they could hide the summons entirely, and those wonderfully sympathetic players who like the way Egi currently exist but would like others to feel greater satisfaction from the job =). (Hoshi knows he likes the capacity to reduce spell effects from other party members while tanking --> I.E.)

    I agree, the "summoner" in FFXIV is a total disgrace compared to what summoners have always been in the FF franchise. I'm surprised they would do such a sloppy and lazy job with one of their more iconic classes.

    What Summoner SHOULD have been if they were true to the FF brand:

    -Epic pet appearance
    -Combat is more about the pet than the summoner
    -Their own identity including limit breaks and playstyle. It's ok to diverge a little bit from being a pure dps class. Buffs can contribute to dps in a meaningful way as well.

    Simplify what the actual caster can do and increase the functionality of the Summon itself dramatically. The pets skills should make up at least half of your total rotation. Why not just build from the FF11 model and make them a hybrid dps/support class? However I would encourage their supporting skills to be damage oriented as summoner is a dps class in the end. So for instance, Garuda could maybe buff allies in a target AOE (something they don't have on most skills in this game for some reason) that has a chance on each auto attack to reduce the global cooldown (or cast time for casters) of the players next 3 abilities by .5 seconds (probably a bit less for casters) and restore a bit of TP/MP.

    Since each pet will have their own exclusive buff and their own mini dps rotation (2-3 skills), you can clip off some of the extraneous skills that SMN has. For instance, you can consolidate Bio/Bio 2 and make up for it with the new pet buffs and dps.

    Then change the lore to make it so you are summoning a little more than 5% of the summons power or whatever excuse you want to make up.

    Egis suck and are not consistent with ANY other FF title that has summons in it. I wouldn't be appealing to tradition if their current system was actually an improvement.

    Maybe nowadays but like 3weeks before launch - 2 weeks after launch? ALL people talked about when it came to Summoner. OMG THIS ISNT A SUMMONER MUH IMMERSION
