    Summon size have you down? why not have it your way?

    Square-Enix has been very generous when providing it's FFXIV players with various options to optimize playing experience via customizable settings. With this in mind, I have a proposition with regards to the sizing of the summoner's Egi.

    If a player opens their Character settings and selects the Character settings tab, they will notice 3 sets of "Battle Effects Settings", each with 3 choices. The summons themselves are technically a perpetual, special effect. Thus, why not allow the player 2-3 choices for the sizing or even the mere presence of pets on screen.

    For example: Pet (Summon) size :: Full scale ( ) Compact ( ) Hidden ( )

    The full scale option would allow the player to view the summon as I believe the creators intended (as I possibly suspect from watching the summoner-specific quest lines)
    The Compact option would allow the player to view the summon as it is currently represented (for players who wish to see the summons but have trouble seeing over them)
    The Hidden option would completely hide the pets from the player's view or even make them transparent I sapose (for those players who aren't interested in seeing them at all)

    I'm not entirely sure why SE decided to utilize such a small size for the summons, but I believe this is an option that may satisfy many players with regards to sizing, giving players who like it as it is a choice to keep it that way, while satisfying those who wish the summons to appear more grand.

    If you believe this to be a perfect additional option to the game, be sure to click the Like button =). Thank you for taking the time to read my thread.

    Just to clarify, I'm only referring to the size of the Egi, not it's actual detailed appearance. As much as I would love for them to bare a greater similarity to their more powerful counterparts, the developers have already decided that they will not change their actual appearance in the future.

    I like me some summons as I like my burger, big and bursting with juicy flavour with a side of extra large fries.

    I'd rather they remove egis, and rename summoner.

    the great thing about being a lalafell is that the egis ARE bigger than me already

    I could technically use my carbuncle as a class mount considering the size of it and me.

    Great idea Mr. OP. It's a great way to improve the individuals experience without effecting others. I WANT A PET (SUMMON) SIZE BUTTON!

    Can't have a slider because they actually occupy space. It's not as if they're just an image. They have their own collision and pathing that is based off of their occupied space.

    The actual hit-box and collusion is determined by information on the server, but the actual display should be based on information allocated on your HD/SSD. Currently the summons are approx. the size of a Lalafell and the desired size would be that of a Roegadyn. Both races have vastly different sizes, but their hit-boxes, collusion, and pathing work just fine.

    As someone else mentioned in another forum, Egi float at a height that seems unusually high, meaning that if their size was increased (to match the size of the rival summoner's Ifrit in the level 35 quest) it would still float above the ground without actually making contact with it.

    While a slider would be optimal for the user, such a feature would require more work, time, and debugging by the development team. I believe in asking for change in reasonable, "easy to consume" bites at a time.

    With regards to pathing, the summons tend to follow the path set of their masters. Thus, I see no issue between pathing and summon size if it's to a reasonable degree.
