FF14 needs an end game for solo players (suggestions included)

    Dear Square Enix,

Many players like myself and the members of my free company are starting to go inactive in FF14 due to the lack of things to do solo. Most of us only logs in on Wednesday at 5:30 PM PST to do our Coil run, cap ToM after, then log off the rest of the week.

In our opinion, because you made the game so easy, fast, and catered it so much to the casual players, we have absolutely nothing to do when we've reached a certain point. The only thing challenging and fun for us, Coil of Bahamut, has a lock out timer. We tried spending our extra time to help new players beat Titan Hardmode and leveled all our other jobs to 50, including crafting and gathering classes, but it just doesn't do it for us.

We would like for things to do such as being able to farm normal mobs for rare drops that are worth farming for and will enhance our characters even at end game. You can make mobs drop rare tier IV materia or above. Add bosses in the game that are difficult to get to, but solo-able. An example I would like to use is a very old MMO, Ragnarok Online. In RO, even when you've hit the max level, there is so much more to do such as farming mobs for rare cards that can enhance your equipment and weapons. Solo bosses that drops some of the best gears and cards. Of course to solo these bosses, it's very challenging, but possible.

Basically, please make it so there are other ways of improving our characters through means of solo play and not just a weekly instance such as Coil.

    Thank You!

    Sincerely,

A true fan of FF14 and Final Fantasy.

I dunno, I heard something about an update with new content on say December 17th-ish. But that could have just been a wild flight of fancy on my part.

Truthfully that is the fickle nature of some MMO players, they burn through new content then pretty much go dark between patches. These people also tend to care only about gearing their own character and not helping others in the FC/LS and better the shell as a whole.

As for the others, well it's the holiday season and families, long hours at retail jobs and parties/events tend to get in the way of logging on for extended periods. Your best bet is to sit tight for a bit longer.

Also I'm fairly certain the are aiming to avoid open world NM's everywhere and the trouble that tends to cause, not to mention they would have to change loot distribution entirely for those NM's.

The 2.1 update on December 17th is more instance grinding and no open world content. Actually, I'm the leader of an FC and we spend a lot of time trying to help other people because we're all at the weekly Coil stage. I literally dedicate at least 2 to 3 nights a week shouting to see if anybody needs help with Titan HM to combat the sellers. I'm having a difficult time keeping my teammates active because there's nothing else for them to do except wait for Coil. We did not rush through the content. We took our sweet time, but the game is just too incredibly easy and so fast to level up.

It took me 2 days at most (not full days) to get each of my DoW/DoM classes from 30 to 50. It took me 4 days at most to get each of my DoH classes to 50.

As for the open world NM's everywhere comment; they can easily avoid that. Why not make normal monsters drop unique seals. Collect enough of the unique seals and you can spawn an NM that works like the leves where only you can attack. This game is lacking rare items that are WORTH obtaining through solo play like in Final Fantasy 11, Ragnarok Online, Lineage 2. Basically, all these newer MMO and WOW clones lack substance. Final Fantasy 14 is doing great and is wonderful up to a point, but the life span of this game is so short between content updates that I'm afraid subscriptions will drop fast.

Then you can experience the joy that is running daily after daily after daily to get gear!

Yes but your topic does not fall in line with that, if your FC is bleeding players then adding solo content will not help the matter. It just gives those that do stick around more to do, more group content will be needed to keep people around for fun/camaraderie/etc. They are also very aware this content update has dropped later than they planned but they didn't expect to overhaul server architecture and the like when the game launched so things were pushed back. If you've kept up with the live letters and dev blogs they plan to roll them out on a shorter time frame to keep up with people who are clearing all the content.

If we have to wait a bit for the content they produce to work and be balanced, then so be it. Tis better that they put out a decent product then rush out something half-done like 1.0 was at the start.

This this so much this!!! Sigh, it seems like we get no response to the communities request for open world end game content...very sad. I hope someday we at least get fraction NM leves back

Yeah..the whole point of MMO is to play with others, hence the massive multiplayer online aspect of it. We still have solo RPG for those who wanna play alone. >.<

Oh god, I hate dailies. I just wish I can tackle bosses solo that has like an extremely rare chance to drop enhancement items. Maybe a rare Materia that has a 5% chance of casting Ultima or something. Have any of you ever played Ragnarok Online? If you have, you'd understand what I mean. Not everybody was skilled enough to solo bosses, but it was possible. Most people would party up to kill the open world bosses, but very skillful players are able to solo them. That's something I really miss.

You did all that work in a short amount of time... You're literally a player with too much time on their hand and no modern mmo is going to keep you long.

The days of time = challenge are long gone.

You're always going to consume more content faster than they can provide.

Solo or Group doesn't change it.

The only advice I can give is to play less. I put in about 10 hours a week and I'm perfectly content with that.
