    Server Choice

    Hello everybody,

i play for 2 days, but there are rarely any players around my area (am on Shiva EU). As i also love crafting and will try to sell a lot of crafted stuff, i worry that i wont have a chance doing this + will keep having problems finding people while leveling because Shiva is online since beta. Should i switch to Lich EU or are my worries unnecessary? I figured the game started only a few months ago (unless on legacy servers?).

Please tell me your opinion on this matter. Thanks

As my concern doesnt seem clear: My worry is, that everyone else will be so much above me in level, that i will never have a chance to make crafting profitable for me and that i will be leveling without a lot of other lowlevel players around me. Please give me your opinion on this.

If you are spending the majority of your time crafting, you do not need to worry. Many players may have 1 or 2 crafting classes, but very few spend the time to level them extensively. Crafted gear, while useful, is not at all necessary to level or for endgame. The exception is perhaps for food, although very few players can reliably craft those and instead buy them.

A number of players make money by selling crafting materials to other players. The most profitable of these are materials gained by tomes of philosophy, although there are a number of materials that are profitable past lvl20.

A second group of players sell HQ crafted items. Half of these sellers sell lvl45+ gear and consumables for raid groups, and they can be very profitable. Lower-level crafters will sell HQ items for multiple turn-ins from levequests. Players who buy these items simply spend gil to buy hq items to turn in for levequest xp, thereby leveling that way. It can generate a lot of profit if you don't mind crafting oodles of the same item.

For the most part, you will be able to make money simply by crafting and doing the levequests. Be wary of using the marketboard to obtain items as most can be prohibitively expensive for quest xp and gil. Most of the items you can obtain yourself, although you may have some expense with leather and some materials obtained from monsters if you can't or won't hunt them yourself.
