Same here, I'd like to add my butt-hurt to this thread - I started picking from different skill sets, now I find I can't have the cool barding I got excited about in trailers - kinda sucks! Mind you I'm not in any great hurry for the fix, my chocobo is only rank 4. I would be annoyed if I was one of the people who'd put effort into leveling it, however, so they should get this sorted sooner rather than later.

Wouldn't it be unfair if you could just reset it?
Your Chocobo seems perfectly built for mob grinding. If you could just get the tank barding overnight, I'm sure a lot of people would be upset since the tank Choco is almost useless (atm) at helping during the grind.

Why should it be considered unfair or make anyone upset? You can buy a thing from your Grand Company and reset the points on you Class/Job and no one is mad about that, this is really just the same thing.
