    What does LB mean?

    I am as new as it comes to MMORPG's and while doing a duty someone asked me to LB

    I don't know what that means.

    Could someone clarify?

    It means limit break. In your skills and abilities under the general tab you can drag the limit break to your hotbar and use it

    Don't ever be scared to ask in-game what all the crazy initialisms used mean! We were all new to the game once.

    Also important to note that a Limit Break is a Final Fantasy term for a very powerful ability, gained by filling a gauge through battle that once full unleashes a devastating attack or very beneficial ability depending on what your class in the game is.

    More important than all that is the fact a party SHARES the same Limit Break, so if you use it the whole parties limit gauge is emptied.
    It is typically used to burn down a enemies or group of enemies in a fight that can be a issue if the target is not killed fast enough, a healer may also use it to try save a wipe...like a last resort.
    It isnt something you blow on some trash mobs thinking its YOUR limit break, its a group limit break.

    I'm a level 50 Scholar (for quite some time) and I've yet to use my limit break once... not even sure how... all the other people like to use it and I'm happy enough to let them enjoy it ^^;

    But it does seem that DD get some super douper attack with LB (so often used by them, especially with 2 gauges at the end of a fight). I think WHM use it and all people get raised.

    Here's a very detailed explanation about how limit breaks work: http://www.ffxivinfo.com/content/limit-breaks.php

    One note is that Arcanists, Summoners and Scholars are missing from that guide. Arcanist and Summoner limit break is the same as a Black Mage. Scholar is the same as White Mage.
