    Reasoning Behind Loot Tables

As someone who is not a game developer I would have just made loot drop an equal amount for each class. I may consider making tank/healer loot drop less to help DF times for DPS.

So...what I'm wondering is why certain jobs have higher drop rates. What is the developers reasoning behind this? I am not upset about drops at all, I'm more curious.. I don't believe for a second that game developers make certain jobs have better drop rates for no reason.

I'm pretty sure it's not all RNG when so many wtf at certain drops.

It's random for everyone, I've done WP before and seen three PLD shields drop in a row where as PLD's in my FC never see one drop.
I've also never seen the healers ring drop in AK even after running it loads and most of the healers in my FC got the drop. ><

At least drops are 100% now unlike 1.0

Sure, it really is just the RNG, or RBG (Random bullshit generator).
But can a RNG not have bugs? It is just something programmed by people afterall.

There are some pretty big wtf's in this game, when it comes to the RNG... running Stone vigil 15 times with the same group, saw the Eisentazar axe drop 11 times, together with 1 blm staff and 3 acn/smn books.
But would have to run 1 dungeon a couple of hundred times, to judge how random the RNG really is.

For a statement like this to be taken even slightly serious you need to include your statistical analysis with a good sample size and tell us what rates you think are not evenly distributed. A good sample size is somewhere around a 1000 drops. What you did her is starting with a false premise and then asking a question based on it. And I am a software engineer btw

Edit: If you mean the chests on first boss of Coil, the devs have admitted that the loot tables in them are skewed and will be fixed. It's still fair RNG which item it is, but the tables are not populated in a good way. So if that's what you mean, then here is the answer.

Yes, it can be bugged. Truth be told, there is always some bias in RN generation. TRN is difficult. Most games use Pseudo Random and put in a bias to make certain items more rare.

As in Really loves to give you tank and mage gear unless you're in Brayflox Number Generator.

It's RNG, and at the same time it's not. Take Coil, for example. You'll always have two healers and two tanks, who share gear, while melee DPS both get their own set, some of which can be equipped by both, BRDs get their own set (sure, standard practice is often two BRDs, which kind of invalidates this) and casters share a set. If everything had equal drop rates, which it probably does, then tanks and healers get shafted badly, BRDs and/or casters may be affected if you choose to bring two, and melee DPS will almost always get the entirety of the loot for their class, and depending on whether you bring two or not may also get a decent chunk of that for another class.

The drops may be equally likely, but that doesn't mean each player'll get an equal amount of gear.

There's also the problem of loot distribution between Turns (did so much of the DRG gear have to be Turn 1, and so much of the WHM gear Turn 4?) which can further skew the loot distribution between players.

I have a sample size of 1000 titan runs with 30% of drops being SCH book.
