Sorry for the short title, because I have no idea what to call it. ^^;

Since Ridill are close related from Final Fantasy XI (i think), does people here likes to relate their tales & experiences about this game's older brother perhaps?

Back then I was considering to move here for that reason alone. But later on, I decide to move to Masamune due being most of local players gathered there.

As for XI itself, I actually started it right after XIV 1.0 ended, and I love it. Right now I have to leave it due being want to concentrate in ARR, but each day I missed more and more of experiences there.

Anyways, I am mainly an english speaker and have almost zero knowledge of japanese language. Even so, I'm a huge fan of FF series with exception of 13 & perhaps 15 due being not having the console and also time to play it, mostly because of RL stuff.

And so... in case one day I decide to consider this server, is there still some here that can relate their experiences for both XI & XIV?

In 1.0's original release, Ridill was at that stage called Selbina (1.0's original servers were all named after towns and cities from past FF games). As the server name would suggest, a lot of FFXI fans naturally decided to play on Selby, to help foster that sense of community.

Unfortunately, I didn't start til about four months after launch, due to problems with my debit card that took ages to sort out, and by that stage, a lot of players had left, including pretty much all my FFXI friends, save one pretty much. Still, I stuck with Selbina even when it became Ridill.

Hence I've just decided to stick with Ridill even into ARR, more out of sentimentality than whether the server is right for me (it's a JP server which works out well for me seeing as I'm Australian and time zones almost match). Luckily though a lot of my old FFXI friends have since returned and joined me on Ridill too which has made things much better.

Thank you for that. Ever since I move to new server, there's not even a single conversation about XI. plus... give that english speaker are way more fewer than before, I find this hard to relate.

Sorry for making this thread out of blue, but ever since I play XI, I love it despite how some people despise the new changes. And I did felt missing out a lot since I abandon it for ARR for realization that I couldn't divide my time playing 2 MMOs. Even though I kinda rushed things in XI like finishing all main stories including expansions & addons, there's still tons of stuff I really want to do. And monstrosity content did really getting popular these days. Skirmish just barely new released when I had to quit, did nailed several armor and enhancements over it. And of course now that R/M/E finally getting their iLvl upgrade, it did gave a whole new exciting purpose to do them again.

In any ways, I guess I just want to know if there are some players I could exchange experience about it, especially since I'm now on hiatus over there.

i know i'm totally necroing this thread... BUT... BOBBIN! how are you!? it's Katusha. we were in the same linkshell in FFXI. i don't even remember the name but i remember Zheta was in it with us. it's too bad you're on masamune and i'm on sargantanas, but at least i found a familiar face haha/

Yeah, I still remember you. Sorry had to bail Sargatanas though, latency was unbearable back then. But I do miss Sargs, wish I could go back there someday, plus I had a great 3 month experience I wanna do again.

How's XI now? You still play it? Hope I can return there one day too. Too bad XIV has been a bit cruel lately with it keep bringing lots of stuff. Luckily, just last night I cap my last class (which is fisher) to lvl 50, so that's more less burden at least until Rogue/Ninja released. Can't imagine tons of stuff I need to catch up in XI though. lol

Sorry, bumping this thread again. Can't help but notice that Enkidoh has apparently moved to Balmung. So I assume english community in this server has gone much fewer? ^^;

Sadly me and my friends transferred to Balmung at the end of last year as we were just finding things too difficult on Ridill. We had a lot of JP friends there though, so it was not an easy decision sadly.

I still have a couple of alts on Ridill, but I hardly play as them sadly (I've never been able to divide my game time between different characters effectively). ; ;
