The story, for the most part, is insultingly bad.
So many sections of story quests that are built around the exact same same premise, of "proving yourself" to people, long after you shouldn't have to. All avoidable, if the main character wasn't a doormat, and your allies simply opened their mouths and vouch for you.

The Costa Del Sol feast was awful enough, but I think I was most insulted by the Coerthas quest line.

It was so lazy and stupidly written. So let me get this straight. Me, guy who slayed two primals, has the backing of the three Grand Companies, a member of the Scions, and all around awesome guy, has to jump through a thousand hoops simply to find out each a-hole I aid, can't help me open a friggin' door so I can go through more hoops just to recover a ship, that willl help save the world. and my character just stood there and took it

Can't defend the Coerthas Set of quests, kind of tedious, but it was to show their plight as well. They don't know who to trust. For all they could know you're a Dargon in disguise that heard of the great Eorzean Hero, and is trying to eat people while they sleep. Not to mention not everyone remembers the random event that happened right before the world was squished by Dalamud. Just saying that though they were hoops, they weren't entirely unwarranted hoops.

Don't forget you also have Cid with you, who is a living legend. You should've just knocked down the door on Stone Vigil and see who and what army was going to stop you. I mean you have to kill a dragon to get the Enterprise back. Somehow I doubt the Ishgardians will be harder than that. Speaking of which, I don't get how Lahabarea basically just kicked a sleeping dragon and then slipped away and now you've to deal with Isgebind.
