Melee DPS jobless in Bahamut Coil

I'm a dragoon, geared, experienced, but having a tough time finding a job slot on bahamut coil, especially on turn 2. They had made the fight mechanic heavy reliance on silence, which will make every party should have mandatory 2 bard.

With 2 bard, melee dps will have only one slot or nothing at all, since perception said that caster is better than melee, especially they dont have to dodge so much

There were times, that i was selling myself & waiting for 4-5 hours on wineport, with nobody asking for melee dps, or send tell to me for party

Square Enix, if you are reading this, pls reduce ADS High Voltage frequency, so 1 bard is enough.... so we, melee dps can have a job

Or, they can NOT nerf ADS and content to accommodate you, and you can find a group that is smart enough to use one paladin and one bard( or willing to take you as a melee DD), thus allowing for two off the GCD silences? This is what my group does, and we clear 1-4 in 2 hours or less. You don't NEED two bards, that is a fail perception put on by the community or unskilled paladins who are unable to micromanage.

    ... continued.

So with that being said. Why would i suggest BRD for you. Simple reason.
DRG is last choice of DPS for groups in coil By now everyone knows that MNK is the stronger Melee DPS but even they are not wanted in Coil. Tanks have it pretty easy in coil because all they do is just stand there and become a Mana Sponge. with 2 healers in coil groups.. they have no worries. Healers have tough job but nothing they have not learned over time to deal with. So.. brings you to Range Attack jobs. Well by the sure NUMBERS of Bards out there should tell you.. BRD is the # choice for COIL and just like a tank has no waiting line for Duty Finder. BRD will not have problem in line for PUG in COIL. So take 5 days and level you ARCH/BRD to 50 and get back to enjoy the game. Because being Melee / DPS is pure FN Hell.

My static clears 1-4 in around a hour and I'm a goon all the way.On turn 2 basically the BRD gets the first silence then both PLDs hit the second, as long one lands in interrupt then profit. You'll shine again at turn 4 because your single target dps is pretty good and you can AoE better than a MNK, even a BRD.

We just got our first Turn 2 kill last week with 1 MNK, 1 DRG (me), 1 BRD, 1 BLM. We were determined to do it with 2 melee because that's usually what we run with and we have a fairly low number of people running coil. The paladins and the bard handled the silences (bard, then pally, then bard, then pally, etc.).

I never played other job before, which makes me knew not much how they work.

These frustration actually kicked in for long waiting time for party and one incident that the party have 2 paladin and 2 bard, which (i dont know why) always missed the high voltage. And suddenly i was the one to blame because i was hit by aoe all the time, and consuming a lot of the healer mana. I said "how the fck, should i dodge if i was consistently always on paralyze". End of story i was kicked out for another bard to fit in, so they could have better silence .

Now you guys have enlighten me, i know that the asshole party was just to darn stupid.

But the long time in waiting due to less melee dps demand still a problem. A full time worker like me (which only have 2-3 hours to play a day) would have a problem finding a static party

We ran turn 2 with only one bard for the first time last night. It's no problem. Though most coil raids will prefer two bards, I assume. You don't have to reroll bard, like some people might say. Just level one and get relic+dl. As a raidleader for my FC things are so much easier when people have bothered to level and gear more than just one job. I understand your frustration, but instead of whining on the forums-- go lvl a bard.

Another "Melee weak / bard hugs all the spotlight" QQ thread.

    Same old, same old.

T2 can easily be done with 1 BRD (BRD / Paladin Silence rotation) and the run will be much smooth that way.

Blame the mindset of stupid people, not the class.

You don't need 2 bards, is just easier for the tanks to switch on and off, but once players start creating new ways of doing things, you soon will not even need a bard for T2 mechanics. You can use a monk, pally or if selene would not use silence when she wants and the obey skill(not sure why it does not seem to work) can fall under the control of the scholar you have successfully removed bard for every ads mechanic.

Actually not saying that melee is weak, neither feel that way when playing my dragoon. Also not blaming bard. I did blame the mechanic. Silence-high voltage mechanic is so crucial on the fight, that people will choose min 2 bard as a mandatory slot. Allagan rot will have people choose caster then melee, because of less probability of accidental passing the rot when dodging.
Missing high voltages or messing your rot, will result party wipe, it is then people will tend to choose more "cant pass without them/less probability messing up the fight" job, which resulted melee dps which have "keep moving dps/messenger of rot from tank" role losing their job or have very limited vacancy available. Absolutely agree with you. In a perfect world, when everybody in party is competence, this fight would not be as hard. What i say, finding a party is hard
