the heck? So was mp-based teleport and warp, teleport rings and warp cudgels. Anima is a solution to only mages having travel benefits, in which even mages stink at traveling.
the heck?
how can you possibly question, or put a negative spin on this system in XIV? Other than some needed balance, it's perfect, and very generous to allow any player with any class at any level, the ability to take himself back to safety, or travel distant locations within seconds.
The only fair argument you have is If I claimed it was the answer to all our traveling needs. Which I didn't.
And last time I logged in, mages in XIV didn't travel any differently than any other Class, why the irrelevant point when we're here playing XIV and not XI?
^ This. . . .5 years is bullshit.
The crystal tools wasn't even ready at the time, not to mention the huge pproblems SE had while developing it, causing XIII and versus to be delayed for the longest time.
XI's resources and manpower were cut considerably after the second half of 2007. Look there for the real dev time.
What utter BS some fanboys pull out of their rearsBecause they are not just "adding" mounts as something you pick up and ride like WoW. They are going to have a full fledge raising system ready from the start when chocobos go live and that takes a lot of finalization and programing and bugtesting.
to justify SE wasn't able to add the simplest of MMO
features in 8 months is amazing.
Lets see officl release was Sept 22 1010 today is June 1st 2011. So far its been 8 months so longer then 8 months.
Tanaka gave a direct quote that they were "working on it" as early as 20065 years is bullshit.

The "Rapture" Tech demo was from 2005: http://www.final-fantasy-14.org/vide...demo-from-2005
Just because your engine isn't up to final spec doesn't mean you can't do planning, design, and asset creation as well.
While the CT issue was part of the reason for FF13's delay, that wasn't all of it.

As is indicative of many games released during this console generation, the development process at Square Enix is horribly dysfunctional and the developers lacked a consistent internal vision to guide them through the project.
Quit justifying their complete failure at having a simple MMO-staple in their game at launch.
Amen sister! Stop Justifying!
I can put a negative system on the anima system because I feel like due to warping with anima all the time, they new we wouldn't walk around as much and hence made the world a bore. If you don't want to bore yourself with their awful scenery you teleport everywhere. You can be teleported to a aetheryte you've NEVER BEEN TO?! that's retarded. They killed a lot of adventuring right there.
I thought 5 years was making the engine and creating concept art. FFXIV's innerworkings were a year two years development max, which is the average for a RPG, and not an mmo so it seemed like it needed more time.
