How long do mounts take to add?

All of these things you are mentioning are great but couldnt we get some barebones form of mount until this amazing system you guys are talking about comes into the game? I mean 9 months without basic transportation? Thats pretty laughable.

People seem to love ignoring that the game needs to basically be remade. FFXI got chocobo's for riding fairly quickly in it's life because they didn't need to go back and redo ...pretty much everything. it's a little silly to think if the conditions were right we would have to wait the same amount of time (9 months) to have them.

Chocobos should have been in from the begining honestly and its laughable they werent. I dont know if they were in the begining of FFXI but that was SEs first MMO so I could cut them some slack if they didnt have chocobos right away AND it was like 2002 or 2003 MMOs were different. Not having mounts in at the begining in 2011 is one of the reasons the game has seen about a 5% retention rate.

They didn't have a working Crystal Tools build until about 2 and a half years ago though.

"Working on" means "working on". They were working on it as late as 2006.

Furthermore..

They said they don't have Chocobos because their anima system covered transportation and they needed something else for Chocobos to do.

You don't need a game engine to at least think and plan for something else for Chocobos to do.

2, but yeah. As said, if they didn't have to redo things...it would likely be implemented by now. I think the main thing is, they never focused on the quests (let alone had time to given how it was pushed out >.>) let alone probably had an idea of what chocobos would be for beyond riding. This game compared to XI though needs a lot of more optimization for what is already present, let alone adding in airships (for our use.)

I played XI since JP beta so I remember the history, when I said it was given fairly quickly in it's life was we didn't have to necessarily wait for it, especially given that XI didn't need major overhauls to its core that pushed everything to the backburner.

The problem with XIV like I said was they originally wanted it to be as different from XI as possible which is where pretty much the majority of odd decisions come from. The server side interface adds to other problems like the slow response of actions and etc.

I'm just realizing that myself... I really don't think they are doing anything to address the major concerns I see on the forums. I guess we need to look in a crystal ball and try and figure out when in the future we might see things needed implemented .... if ever.

2. It's well known that the CT development was the majority of the 5 years the game was spent in development. XIII's PS3 redesign was completed around the time the CT became stable.

If you recall:

"Chocobos time around will be used for something different"

Therefore that "something different" wasn't even likely designed given the rushed nature of this game. The overhauls they likely retracted that design decision (much like they seemed to with Hamlet Defense.) A lot of the planned updates they seemed to have retracted in order to fix this game.

You telling me that in the 5 years that they said, in their own words, that they were "working on it", that in ALL that time, they didn't even bother to even design the chocobo implementation? I find that notion hard to believe.

Hell, they could have just copy pasted the same thing from FF11, they seem to be pretty adept at that, at least.

Again you mention the "overhauls" when I've already pointed out that that argument is meaningless when we're talking about features that should have been in the game since retail launch. They only started thinking about these "overhauls" after the launch when it became obvious to them that the general gaming public is not going to tolerate a half-finished failure of a release.
