Complete Shutdown after patch

Wondering if anyone else is getting this problem.

Last night was fine (has been since I started) I haven't made any changes at all, no installs, no un-installs nothing. After coming home from work I find servers down for Maint (ok, it needs to be done, thats a given) update the client as usual and now when I log in, my whole computer shuts down after a few minutes of being in-game.

Any ideas? I've already submitted a support ticket, but it will be at least 24hrs before I get a response (due to my location)

Whole computer? Does it just switch off dead, or does windows show blue-screen?

Try running other stressful things on it, benchmarks, graphically intense games etc, and see if it also shuts down with those.

Sounds like a problem with your computer and not a problem with the game...?

It shuts down as if I manually press and hold the power button.
All other games I have are fine (Albeit probably not in the same Ballpark as FFXIV graphiclly speaking), I can play around making new characters and such, but when I log into my character and try do do anything, it shuts down.

If it was my computer I would imagine I would have had some form sign at some point since I started playing. Its only started happening since the latest patch though. (And no, I'm not a computer wiz, I know enough to get me by but assume nothing more than that) XD

Look at your event logs. Track the issue from there. But you might also have to research windows crash codes and their directories.

Having a somewhat similar issue in a way and not sure why.. Before maintenance, everything was fine. Went through Aurum Vale and other dungeons with no issues whatsoever. Now, whenever I enter Aurum Vale(Especially during the third boss fight) I randomly get booted from the game.. Says my connection to the server was lost but there is nothing wrong with my internet connection. I've only been doing Aurum Vale before and after maintenance BTW.


Also, there are random times when mp PC crashes while playing(video card related I'm thinking, possibly a Nvidia driver but even rolling back is useless now), it's been this way since the last update and I can no longer play on "high" settings because that causes it to happen more frequently. I've never had this issue playing ARR in the past and all of my other PC games run just fine. This only started happening after the last update. Not sure what's up on SE's end but we may be having the same problem.

It sounds to me like a bad PSU. If your PC starts fine then runs idle. Then you start a game your GPU is drawing too much power from the PSU and causing a system shutdown.

Happened to me as well.. couldnt figure out why.. then I saw that I had a windows update I had to to.. updated windows.. all is well

AMD card here - no issue with this. It sounds like either ram or psu is starting to go.
