Solution to Crystal Tower Loot Lockout Timer (Promotes Balance, Promotes Duty Finder)

Based on the recent Famitsu translation, it looks like there is a lockout timer for loot for the entire week. I don't know whether it is character specific. However, I am HOPING that it is JOB SPECIFIC.

SE - Please make the lockout timer JOB SPECIFIC. If I queue up as a tank and get one item, I may not have an incentive to do the content for the remainder of the week. It would be more beneficial of my limited time to do treasure hunts, Extreme Primals or other content.

However, since the BIGGEST selling point of this game is playing MULTIPLE jobs on one character, I can queue up for the Duty Finder potentially every day. I have all jobs at 50 primarily because of 1.0 xp grinding. This is still very balanced because one item is going per JOB.

This works very well with the coil lockout mechanic because I can pick and choose which job to use for that week and have the necessary gear to tackle it on. By allowing me to enter the duty finder on a different job and still get rewarded, you will always have enough people joining to fill out the ranks for the entire week.

Otherwise, my other jobs fall further and further behind, and make it less enjoyable to play if I'm pigeonholed into selecting one job to gear up 3 months at a time.

This will promote variety and further strengthen the duty finder.

    My 2 cents.

I was hoping it'd be one item per run, but it seems they want to limit progress for some reason I can't fathom. It's already bad enough that CT is coming out AFTER the raid with HIGHER ilvl gear. I was hoping to supplement the stuff I've obtained from Coil and my Myth gear with stuff from CT to progress better, but it seems I'm going to be in the same boat as a lot of people: focus on Coil till we progress as far as we can for the week, then do CT till I get a piece of gear. It's hard to even justify running it within the FC as I'm going to loathe running CT over and over with them until people get their one item for the week.

I just don't understand why they put in a 1 item per week cap when it's lower tier content and it requires 24 people to successfully complete it.

Yes, the once a week lockout is very annoying.

One item per job would be amazing.

One item per run would be amazing.

One item per day would be amazing.

Why oh why did they have to choose weekly?

We don't have details. It could be 1 item per boss per week. That's ~4 items a week.

The sky isn't falling, wait until we have all the details.

There is a simple solution that can be maintained for the life of this game. To balance between multiple jobs and best gear in the game. I know SE doesn't want the best guilds to be able to pimp out all of their jobs in one week, hence the Character lockout restriction of Coil.

But from now on, you can make all new content patches that increase the iLevel be Character Lockouts like coil. One tier lower can be JOB Specific lockout, and one tier below that can be no lock out.

We have this now but only 80% of it. i90 is Character lockout weekly. i70 doesn't have a limit with WP SR and AK spamming. The problem is the filler level i80. If there is no limitation, you can make coil trivial by allowing everyone to get i80 items in a week by spamming CT.

What boggles my mind is the loot lockout because it is a DE FACTO character lockout. There are no incentives to do CT if you got your gear other than being a good person. We see how that works out in MMOs. Loot lockout is WORSE than coil lockout because one week you can get no items, another week you may get 2 or 3. With CT, because you know you only get one, there's no reason to devote hours and hours with pugs/duty finder people if you got your one item.

By making the second highest tier of gear JOB specific, you won't triviliaze the highest tier, you make leveling up multiple jobs fun because now there's a way to gear them up one item at a time, one week at a time, and you'll have the duty finder FILLED with people queuing up for their multiple jobs. This becomes a form of horizontal progression that people can enjoy and adds variety to their gameplay.

So when 2.2 hits with tier 6, and it drops i95 gear, coil tiered groups will have the advantage, as they should, but people who have other jobs at i80 can tackle the content as well with the JOB THEY WANT. Otherwise, you'll have to focus on getting your primary job the i90 AND i80 gear and wont' have a second class ready for 2.2.

The current system is so backwards that the words "frustrations and disappointment" are under statements.

Wait. Does everyone in the raid get loot from boss kills? Because if not, I'd say that you're probably going to keep running CT throughout the week (assuming you're doing it for loot) until you actually get something.

It's not a case of trying to keep things unique or rare. They're just trying to stretch what end-game content they have as far as humanly possible since there is so little of it right now. Someday we'll have loot lockouts and myth tomes per job but I don't think it'll happen for 6+ months give or take. I am annoyed by this as it would be cool to be able to gear up my tank and my DPS so that I could utilize either depending on what my FC needed instead of filling in with pugs.

The problem is that iLv80 is not filler.

Crystal Tower is designed for the casuals as the ultimate casual end-game content.
Binding Coils is designed for the hardcore as the ultimate hardcore end-game content.

You can do both, or only either. It's only natural that people who have BC on farm find no reason to do CT---the content was never designed for them in the first place.

Please note how content will be updated: BC in 2.2, CT in 2.3, BC in 2.4, etc.

So what you have here is that CT will always look like filler because you will always be "missing a tier of CT" when you tackle the new BC content.

Either Square Enix is so stupid that they repeat the same "mistake" every other patch, or it was never a mistake, but a design choice to begin with.

Binding Coils and Crystal Tower are two parallel lines of progression, you can ride both, but please do not mistake them for one single line of progression. You're free to treat them as one, but remember they are designed as two.

Once you accept that, then the loot lockouts make perfect sense.

Obviously, there's always the "out-of-box" solution: to gather enough community momentum to force SE to merge the two paths of progression into one and reschedule their patching order.
