People forcing SRs in DF

If you see a full relic party and want to speed run, ask. It takes 2 seconds.

I think Zedine hit the nail on the head here. I don't think most people are by default against speed runs, but when someone is presumptuous and tries to force one without talking to the group--its irksome. After all, who are they to try and make decisions for the entire party? Nine times out of ten, if the group is capable of doing a speed run they'll be ok with the idea--so long as you ask about it.

Do you ask if a SR is ok? if not then that is not cool. I am a relic +1 WHM in materia'd 2star HQ crafted gear and accessories and will not Run a SR in a DF period. thats not what i DF for. Like many have said, if you want a SR, go to Mor Dhona and shout for one, do not put stress on people that could not care less if the run takes a few extra minutes.

Forced SRs are almost as bad as those idiots that que for SM or Prae and bitch piss and moan when someone wants to watch the cutscenes

I had the best healer in the world my last WP run, A Blm kept running ahead and pulling groups of mobs I spammed to get hate then Bam, Blm dies. I say "sorry about that" he says "stupid noob tank learn to hold hate". Blm runs ahead and pulls only to die again. I'm wondering WTF is up because it happens 4 more times THEN, the SCH says to the Blm "hey assclown, it's my fault you're dead I'm healing the person who is meant to tank damage not some moron who charges in like a fool" The Blm leaves we get a Smn and rest of run was smooth lol.

I never said I forced it. I tell the group before I even start if the pace is too fast to just speak up and let me know and I'll slow it down. I think you need to re-read my post.

I force a semi speed run on people when tanking , I'll pull to bats , then 2 more groups + 1 tom , then 2 groups to boss . If BLM in group I would skip trash but 90% of the time they are sleeping themselves and don't sleep .

So many times ive had to fight first boss with adds because of dumb BLM.

However if someone complains about me going to slow I will give them speed beyond their wildest dreams , and they will die .

Honestly in almost every MMO the default leader is usually the tank. Not because of his skills or leadership qualities, but because when he turns that corner to see a room full of mobs aggro him, he wont die. Because he know he can take hits before the healer can pop a cure. There is a reason we use tanking classes. If the tank doesn't want to do something it could be because he can't or because the healer can' keep him alive. Not anything to do with the dps and how fast they can kill as a group. And if the Tank can and maybe just doesn't want to, then you have to consider why you are not doing the run his way, is it because you don't want to? Can you say he is being selfish when you are being the same? This applies the same way to tanks forcing speedruns.

Honestly I have no problems with WP speedruns, what bothers me is AK speed runs because they involve death pulls. That is right, its the tanks job to pull everything and die while the party moves up. And I don't know about the rest of you but I play the game to fight and tank and dying is the last thing I want to do. So why would I force it to save people a few minutes and lose money to repairs. Why would I do this for people who aren't even polite enough to say "Hi" at the start of a dungeon, or "thanks for the run" at the end. Especially if you did do a death pull. There are several threads of people complaining for more content yet here they are trying to use shortcuts on the content we do have.

For speed runs, I normally run with a premade. If I DF on my PLD, I check to see the gear of the group and class composition. If conditions appear to be good I'll attempt a speed run (and if not, I opt for a normal run). If it looks like the healer is struggling, I slow it down (or if someone asks to slow down). If I DF as my BLM, I let the tank set the pace just because that's the polite thing to do.....

From what i have read, it is stated that you check to see if the conditions suit you to do a SR and if someone struggles then you slow down...but i can go grab a dictionary and double check if some definitions have been changed

WP Tanks take note. This is how its done when you duty finder it. Also you have to be a terrible healer if you cant heal 2 groups of mobs... It really takes no effort in a semi-speed run which I consider a quick run which I do all the time.

I think the confusion with people here is speed, quick and normal. OBV with speed run you would have a full geared party with relics... otherwise you are just wasting your time. I shout for speed runs in toll. A quick run is pulling two groups which cant burden anyone if you have an aoe dps there. Now if you have a party with two melee jobs then by all means do a normal run which would be killing mobs where they are not pulling extra. This thread is filled with a bunch of cry babies...
