My group usually runs with 2 bards, SMN and MNK for our dps. we've gotten to T4, but we were told that you NEED a BLM for T4. Is this true? or is our comp okay?

Not true, my group clear it with 1 PLD, 1 WAR, 1 WHM, 1 SCH, 2 Bards, 1 DRG and 1 SMN. Our SMN actually main a BLM in other turns, she just wanted to try out SMN in Turn 4 works fine.
done it with 2 PLD, 1whm, 1 Sch, 1 Bard, 1 mnk, 1 drg, 1 smn
Nay you don't need a BLM. Any group setup will work, you just have to adjust to it and build up your own method.
That's a load of bullcrap.
One of our Coil groups has a 4 Physical DPS setup for T4 and they destroy it. All they have to do is get the Soldier staggered which takes a lil time but once it is staggered it gets obliterated by 4 physical DPS.
Running a 4 magical DPS setup is really hard, but not 4 physical.
Do it with smn, mnk, mnk, brd no problem every week. Just got to make sure your smn is multi doting up things and not killing himself on knights.
I did it with DRG, BRD, BRD, SMN. You DO NOT need a BLM.
False.
SE seems to want to counter balance a fear of too many magic DPSers, so this fight is extremely difficult with more than two magic users.
That said, I was in a group with two brds, a drg and a SMN (me) as dps, worked fine.
Not sure how blm got so ingrained into the heads of people for turn 4: it is still a straightforward fight without one. Coil is far more about the players and the team execution than about party composition
If you're having AoE problems, you can just skip killing the second group of spiders, burn down the Dread, then kill all the adds, then the final Dread. You use Hallowed Ground on the OT then MT with this method.
It's a decent substitute for a lack of AoE DPS. My team used to use it out of necessity, now we use it out of habit.
