    Another BM thread

I am taking all your advise down from the rotation threads as i get closer to having the bm crystal.
I was thinking if BM has the elements of nature for damage why have SE also not implemented wind spells?
Only wind spells in this game i know of is Aero but it feels weak as a spell.
    Any thoughts?
May be a pointless thread but wanted to know if others would agree (at least a few of you, lol)
Oh and have SE talked about nerfing anything from BM

Way back in the 1.0 elemental spells were split into Ubral, fire, lightning, and ice, and then Astral water, wind, and earth. Originally conjurer had all of them, but with the remake of the classes, they gave Umral to thaumaturge and Astral to conjurer. Aero is a dot spell, not much damage up front, but over time it can add up, it's also instant cast.

    There's Aero and Aero II.
Aero is a 150 potency spell. Not that weak, but fairly low.
Aero II is a 210 potency spell and an awesome animation. This is powerful.

As Mcshiggs said, they gave BLM/THM umbral spells and WHM/CNJ astral. I would love wind spells on my BLM and all, but I have to admit that it does suit the WHM more.
    I'm fine with the split.

Aero is 200, unless my math of 50+25*6 somehow fails me.

Nope, you're right! I think I used 12 second for both.

Thanks for the replies. I actually tried Aero to see, while not ideal for a rotation it is still a dot. Perhaps i will also level my conj some more to see

Well 200 is not that bad at all, just cannot seem to find a perfect sync in rotation to use it.
I experimented using Aero first instead of thunder but not sure. Also heard virus is suppose to be good and yet nobody talks about it in any of the blm rotation threads. Still like thm better then i did gladiator just tend to do too many chain kills without healing and forget how little hp mages have

Yes, Virus is nice on dungeon bosses, and Eye for an Eye is also good from Arcanists. Do remember, though, that you can't use Aero as a Black Mage. Aero 2 is not cross-classable.

It depends on your gear and what level mobs you're killing if the dots are worth your time, but you could try throwing Thunder and Aero first and following that with Fire. Transpose to Umbral after mob is dead, run to the next one, and repeat. For dungeons, you can throw your dots first on trash and continuing normally from there. There are some trash mobs that have such a low HP that you don't get the full damage of dots, so you're better off just using Fire on those. As for bosses, start with dots first, and only refresh them only in Umbral Ice. Use Thundercloud proc when you can, but don't interrupt your current cast for it.

Stuff about BLM having all elements
Fire, Ice, Lightning trio is the classic Black Magic with a couple of status effects and non-elementals mixed in. Black Mages (magi?) may have access to one or two spells from other elements, Quake, but that's about it. I think Water has made it's way into the spell list of late. Them having access to all elements is more of an XI and XIV 1.0 thing as far as I know.
