    Severs seperated by language. Discussion.

    I am against it.

i'm not a fan of it either honestly. i do get annoyed when someone shouts in another language and scrolls my screen, but there are also many people on that speak multiple languages and have friends that speak a different one. if the most i have to deal with is the occasional shout i have nothing to worry about. just because i speak one language and another i speak very little of does not mean i should take the fun some others have when they have friends from multiple countries with different languages that they enjoy talking to. i'm there to have fun not dictate to others what they should find as fun. if someone annoys me by constant shouts i just blacklist them regardless of what language they speak.

i guess this was my long way of saying i agree and am against it.

Since I know who you are Reika you will not be suprised by my response but I am for it. I like being on a server with a large population of people that can easily speak to me. However I do not believe SE will ever do this.

I like how in wow you can log on and there is a lot of discussion. You can ask for help in a zone by typing something like "where is the monster for this quest around here?" and get a response. Auto translate is pretty rigid. All of your open communication is unnatural sounding like Mission 1-4 Can you help?

I think if people tried to open up more it would be better. I see a lot of English shouts in Ul'Dah on Besaid but not much in Japanese, French, or German.

I actually do not like seeing a stream of auto-translation words. For one, not every language has the same word order in their sentences, so its not even very readable regardless. I have seen like 20 auto-translated words in one sentence asking for a repair and just say to myself "good luck with that". I use Translation software to talk to others, so i have no problem with server language diversity.

I certainly dont think we all need our own servers, with such a low playerbase that would put us at a real disadvantage, auto translate serves its purpose well enough for partying.

I mean its not like I'm overwhelmingly awash in a multitude of languages,Its rare for me to even see people talking in public, the first /shout conversation i've seen with more than two participants is when someone let us know he paid 1k for his video card and five people were like "Wow you got ripped off."

No. The Japanese, European and North American community make a majority percentage of players within a Server.. If I were to be limited to GB players there'd be not more than ~200-400 people online at max.

What a foolish idea if SE were to ever consider it.

SE probably won't be bringing new servers online any time soon since the existing servers are far under capacity, but it seems like there are a fair number of people wanting language-specific servers on both sides of the Japanese-English fence.

I think they should not segregate any of their existing servers, but if they bring new servers online in the future it might be a nice option to give people who really want it.

I personally want to play in an international environment so I would not want to join a one-language server.

I'm mixed about it. While it offers unity through diversity, there are those few who will purposely and wrongly ban outsiders/certain language groups from partaking in events or parties. The most classic example being JP ONRY. But it doesn't seem near as severe as it was in FFXI.
