I cast stone skin on only the tank usually, and if they are under geared myself, DDs should be watching their damage so they shouldnt need it. As for Coil, i have not been in there, so i cant advise there. As for SC/SS i do that during combat so i dont have to spam my cure II as often to bring a tank up and deal with agro. but that is just me.

When I tank, I would cast stone skin whenever there is break between attack. Just so I can do a little more to help healers. But mainly in HM primal fights.

It makes them... "Stoneskin"-ed....

Just try to Stoneskin the tank in Dzemael Darkhold against the All-seeing Eye (first boss). It lasts something like 30 seconds or more and you have to do nothing. Just sit, watch and cast a Stoneskin every once in a while.

I've been working on my Thm to get swiftcast, and was amazed at how useful Stoneskin is as an additionl ability. In the low level dungeons Cnj doesn't have stoneskin, but I can bring it as an additional ability! That might seem trivial, but after being in some really bad parties, it's a great tool to have.

I SS before battles and in pauses if the target/party is topped off and I have surplus mana. SS is not mana/hp-efficient unless the tank has crazy amounts of HP and your heals are comparatively weak.

In T5 or when facing hydra, I find it much easier to just bring a Scholar along for the lustrate when Death Sentence/White Breath hits.

Stoneskin is an excellent tool to spend time. If you choose to do nothing you may have to heal a cd later. If you choose to sk you may choose again a cd later. In even do it on scholar sometimes (in those rare cases I got it crossed).

There's a few times where stoneskin becomes a heal substitue. Hydra and Twintania are really the only two that come to mind. When the tank gets hit by the white breath which reduces healing done, use stoneskins instead. Same cost as a cure 2 and absorbs damage instead of heals it. Once white breath is gone, back to healing.

Just for fun - anecdotal report on my first titan run;

The tank had done it before and que'd it just for fun. The other three of us all watched the cutscene - so I have to assume it was the first run for the three of us - two of us said it was. I did read the FFXIV guild strategy.
1) The first attempt was pretty bad. Two of us got knocked off by Goecrush, because we misunderstood the directions.
2) The second attempt one dps got knocked off, the other died in a granite gaol. The tank and I almost finished it, but I went oom trying to break granite gaols and heal. Had I used cleric stance, instead of staying in healer mode for the little dps I needed to do, it might actually have made the difference.

3) Everyone did everything right and we won.

SO - yes - everyone doing everything right = win, BUT if one or two players never figured it out I could have been the difference on that second attempt.

***other fun I've had... as thm or blm having stoneskin and heal you can practically solo low level dungeons.
