New Player Experience is very lonely.

Speaking from the experience of a first-time player who has never played any FF MMO.

After playing all three City-State's beginnings, I can say that starting out is a lonely experience for a newbie.

Nobody talks. It seems like everyone sticks to their cliques and guilds and there is little room for a newbie to interact with the server's community. How does a brand new player, with no previous XI or XIV experience and acquaintances meet people to join these wonderful linkshells and guilds?

The other effect of the apparent clique-ish silence is that it makes the game seem like it is dead, even though there are players all around.

Is there a specific point in the game that I have not reached yet where people start talking and being social?

Luckily there is a fairly simple solution to this: automatically place new players in an "Adventurer's Guild" npc linkshell for their starting city. That will more easily put us in contact with one another.

    Hello,

I understand where you are coming from. I can remember the first MMO I ever played, I soloed for so long because no one ever talked to me or invited me on runs etc..

Then I got my first raid invite, long story short, it didn't go well, I wasn't to blame, but it still made me question playing MMOs.

Then I was invited to another raid, this one was filled with guild members, and by the end of that raid, I was a part of their guild.

These guys turned out to be great friends of mine for a long time. Some of them I don't speak to anymore for various reasons, but a few are in the FC we have on this game now.

My point, is that when I look back, I realize I should have tried more, all I did was sit and wait for someone to inv or talk to me. I learned a closed mouth never gets fed, to talk and respond to FC invs if you don't have one because while it may not work out, you could also make some great friends.

All I am saying is try, and if you have, don't stop...

Well my free company disbanded and now i'm looking for a new one and no one is responding. I might consider transferring too but i looked at the requirements, you have to wait till the free trial is over with and you need to make a service payment. So ill just keep trying for now.

You know that you don't have to wait until you complete the story to join a free company, right? Our FC accepts new members and helps as much as we can along the way, even if it is banter and a simple hello when you log in. We answer questions and our crafters can help with gear. If you ever move to Behemoth, look up Nekomimis FTW!. We would be happy to have you.

Leviathan seems to be always lively unless I'm on late at night on the weekdays, I'm taking around midnight. Theres always FATE groups running around, people shouting for help, etc.... if you switch servers look up FC Fury and LS Benevolence

In my experience if you want social interaction, you have to be social. There could be dozens of other new players all around you all thinking how lonely the game feels, someone has to be the first one to start up a conversation. So that's what I recommend, be the guy who gets things going. If you need to do a dungeon, for example, make the group yourself or if you encounter a fate, see if nearby people would like to party up for it. After awhile, you'll have a huge collection of friends and then you'll wish you had some time to yourself every once in awhile :P

The first 10 levels are super fast ...I've got it down it down to under 4 hours. I'm not sure what it is about my characters but I seemed to get pegged right off the opening cutscenes.
Only the really large fc will have lower level people starting and leaving daily. My suggestion is to just go up to people and ask them if their fc is recruiting or if they want to partner up.
I always check their class level first, just right click on their name and scroll to "examine"
