Back in the day hanging out in selbina because there was either a goblin at the zone killing people off or because it was just a safe spot to look for a party. Ah those were the days
..and this is why I spent every waking moment in Ronfuare with my lower levels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clld-gFL050
My god this is depressing...I wish they would reset FFXI to its vanilla state so I can start over and play the game I enjoyed so damn much so damn long. Or at the very least I want the dev team to listen to these tracks, maybe it'll evoke some inspiration in them moving forward. Hell I want FFXIV to be FFXI 2 point O, I'll say it and I don't give a....

Typically music evokes emotions and those emotions can be good or bad depending on whether your experiences with them were good or bad. So if you had a good time in FFXI, you would love listening to certain soundtracks because it reminds you of how much fun you had in the game. In FFXIV you haven't really had enough time or have been given enough opportunity to build these memories.I'm confused why I personally like the XI soundtrack more than XIV. Can someone explain why this is? lol
Zi'tah, Yuhtunga, Kazham, Movalpolos, Zvahl....
Is it because the themes fit? Because of the feeling of 'final fantasy' being evoked? I need answers.
(Oh, but I do have a soft spot for Mistbeard Cove--- pirates and jungles and caves for me I guess xD)
P.S. I agree Mistbeard Cove is pretty cool and soundtrack is awesome for it.
Odin Fight

and Divine Might music

love both of those, they really fit the fights.
So, I've listened to most of these links, and haven't really been that impressed. Some of them are nice, but none of them have made me go "I wish that was on the FFXIV soundtrack." Are you sure you're not simply being persuaded by nostalgia rather than the quality of the music?

You wouldn't understand unless you played the game. The music fits very well with every zone/scene/battle so you visualize all of that whenever you listen to the soundtrack. Besides that, it actually IS an amazing soundtrack on its own. Man, I notice that every time someone says something good about XI another person will immediately dismiss it as nostalgia. It's getting old guys. So, I've listened to most of these links, and haven't really been that impressed. Also, best zone music is Gustaberg, and best boss theme is Fighters of the Crystals.
The nostalgia's inseparable, due to the connections a person makes with their surroundings when stimulated. The same thing will happen with FFXIV's OST in time. However, while Mizuta's composition style feels somewhat amateurish in FFXI, that doesn't automatically make them bad. It also has a lot to do with the arrangement and instrument software quality, which wasn't quite as good as FFX's, definitely not XII's, and nowhere near that of FFXIV.So, I've listened to most of these links, and haven't really been that impressed. Of course I'm not trying to go to THAT debate again.
