They're just numbers.
Everything in the game is just numbers. It's nice for them to have some kind of relevance behind them rather than arbitrary values. If you look at lower level items, their item level actually represents what level of item it has the stats of. A level 35 spear with an item level of 37 has the same damage as a level 37 spear. I don't think a level 90 weapon is going to have the same damage as a lvl 50 relic. It seems more like a level 55-60 weapon if they keep the same basic damage increase throughout the next 10 levels.
Again, it doesn't affect the game, but it's still something that bothers me.
Well, it may not to you, personally I don't want to see gigantic numbers that have no meaning clogging up my gear stats, all for the sake of derps that don't feel like comparing stats, or memorizing what gear is better :T
"durr this piece of armor has 15 vit, dan dis un has 17 vit, I JUST CAN"T TELL WHICH IS BETTER UNLESS I LVL!!!!111!"

They do have a meaning; it's the strength of the piece of gear. ilvl 90 > 80 >70, etc., it's quite simple and rather efficient. And I'm not even going to bother responding to your "quote".Well, it may not to you, personally I don't want to see gigantic numbers that have no meaning clogging up my gear stats, all for the sake of derps that don't feel like comparing stats, or memorizing what gear is better :T

You know what else shows you the 'strength' of the gear? The stat numbers. Ilvl may be 'efficient', but its also babying and sad.
I just can't wrap my head around this. Why do we need to see the number then?

You know how those stat numbers are determined? The ilvl and how it determines the stat "caps" on each piece of gear. To change ilvl would mean to change the stats on every piece of gear or even rebalance everything in the game to make up for the loss of stats everyone will have due to ilvl being lowered.
Okay, I suppose I get it a bit more now. I'm not calling for ilvl to removed, or lowered, my first post in this thread was saying 'its too late now'. What I'm saying is it shouldn't have existed in the first place imo.You know how those stat numbers are determined? The ilvl and how it determines the stat "caps" on each piece of gear.
