What's Final Fantasy?

I was recently watching this free series on hulu Called "The Final Fantasy Retrospective."

I watched all 13 parts, even though the series is a bit behind and doesn't mention XIII or XIV, it did have a particular part that spoke to me about themes and conclusions to the series. If anyone would like to view the series in it's entirity, here is the link to the main page:

It's part 13 in the series and it made me really think about what Final Fantasy is and not what everyone is wanting to make it.

I implore fellow followers of our game series to watch this, and maybe even the whole show in all it's parts. Really think about what would make this game be Final Fantasy more than it already is and to stop looking at the superficial in popular gaming society.

I'm gonna watch this as soon as I stop listening to Track 36 on the OST.

Man this game has some amazing music...too bad they only use like 20 of the tracks.

I love the OST for this game, but I don't like the music in game if that makes sense. The music is awesome but it doesn't fit in some places. Gridania's music is so sleepy too. Watching these games, FF has common musical themes, and I think next time Nobuo has to do a song for XIV it will fit more, he'll make sure, since he isn't too happy with how well the music fits either.

I believe it'd be in everyone's best interest to watch those before making their own suggestions and recommendations. This is why a lot of FF fans do not agree with certain suggestions.

I have already watched these retrospective several times since they released them. Each time I do, I am reminded how awesome FF has been, from I to XIII, it has been incredible. Thank you SE.

I am glad Yoshida has already indicated he plans to keep making this game feel more like a FF game. what ever that may mean for SE, making a FF game feel like one has been what keeps the franchise going.

This is why I am hoping they turn it into a Final Fantasy before they even think about turning it into something else. :P
