Useless fish?

I've caught a couple fish that don't seem to be used in any recipes at all right now anyone know if there will be future recipes to use them or if they are just for xp boost?

For example the Dune Manta?

Most fish are useless. There's only about 30 or so out of 186 that are actually used for anything, so just sell 'em if you want. The only use some of them have are turn ins for leves or GC supply and provision dailies. It is true that they might be used in the future for something, so I tend to keep the ones that were a pain to get, especially if they are high quality.

As espritduo said, most of the fish are vendor trash. There's a few used in recipes and even fewer of those recipes are worth building to go out of the way to get the fish. Ultimately if you're looking to make bank on fishing you came to the wrong gathering class. There are three..maybe four fish that sell.

I spend more time selling my fish at vendors just to make a quick 3 gil than i do selling on the markets. Would be great if fishing was more profitable but its just how they wanted to make it. It's fun but def not a money maker

Some fish are used in GC proovisioning quests. Also some are used in fishing levequests that are fairly easy to select for.

Northern Pike for one. I tend to sel them in stacks of 9 or 18.
