If they want to level multiple characters that's their perogative. Personally I can't be bothered to play through the main story again and unlock everything again just so I can steal more loot that someone else deserves.

They are artificial restrictions to prolong subscriptions. Its not hidden very well either.

Everything in pretty much any MMO is made to keep you playing for a certain amount of time befolre you can move on to the next thing. It's not like it was ever some kind of secret. People threaten to cancel over these kinds of tactics sometimes but ultimately usually keep playing. However, if you make progression too fast people will run out of things to do and be sure to cancel anyway- thus the stalling tactic is less likely to cost customers.

That's not really how it operates. Do a 4 main 4 alt method. Run 1: 8 drops in coil goes to the 4 mains. Run 2: 8 drops in coil goes to the other 4 mains. You just reverse who is on a main and alt in each run. You effectively double up on loot. Hell if you're really dedicated you could go even further.

If I happen to enjoy doing endgame content with 2 jobs and I'm good at both and I have time to do coil with both of them (note: 2hr per week, big deal) how is that stealing the loot from someone else? o.O

If you have a specific arrangement with other people to distribute amongst alts that's fine, but im more pointing at freelance people joining multiple groups with different alts.
