Yeah I love it in WP too hehhe.
Necessary? Not often. It's basically a good and flexible tool to use, and one use is similar to a mini benediction.
I'll give you an example situation: A 5.5k hp tank's down only 1.5 k hp (so at 4k currently), and you know boss will be doing a 3-4k hit in 2 seconds which may kill him if an unlucky auto attack also lands. You're halfway on GCD from healing party. You can't complete a Cure 2 cast in time, so what do you do? Waste benediction, swiftcast a Cure 2 or just cast your cure and pray? I know which one I'd pick
