Enmity list and subtargeting, glitched?

I noticed this long ago; real easy to see for controller tanks because they always sub target first before switching targets, but dont keyboard tanks not subtarget but tab target instead? How do they subtarget with a keyboard and mouse?

Tab to switch targets mostly here.

If I drop aggro on an enemy i'll left click the mob on the enmity list itself and pull it back in from there.

Haven't experienced the OP's problem at all but then again i'm struggling to understand what he's even talking about

You can using the number pad, but it's a bit awkward.
