    Despite what a lot of people are saying in here, the game forces you to do several battles/quests solo and break party. While other times it forces you to party, which is strange to me. Would be nice to at least have an option for a party and scale up the difficulty of the quest.

    We have to keep in mind some of the things that have happened in the past with other MMOs that have allowed soloable dungeons.

    For example: World of warcraft, Rogues stealth running for chests. Things like this start occurring if we allow dungeons to be soloable.

    I do understand the uniqueness in trying to solo content but at the same time, we face the fact that content can be exploited without anyone seeing it. In ff14 ARR we do have chests that drop items and gil, meaning, it technically could be exploited to some degree.

    However, regarding the story progression part. I feel it needs to be adjusted a bit. We have to depend too much on the party in order for the story to be completed. Some MMO team-play is good but lets not make it where 1 person could cause a numerous amount of issues.

    Lets do something I would called story-mode. In story mode, the penalty for poor mechanic execution is reduced, drops do not exist except for story/quest drops and additional players can only be beneficial versus possibly being the burden. We allow people the option to solo story mode but give them the choice to bring in party members as well. Soloing will take 30-40 minutes while adding members will make it far far less. We still promote MMO gameplay, teach mechanics and at the same time we solve the issue with lack of people doing the dungeon or queuing with players who end up being harder to deal with then the dungeon itself.

    This is a MMO, not an offline console game. Square wants to promote team play, the feeling when you and others accomplish things together. If they want to make an off-line solo game, they may have to come out with something like Final Fantasy XIV-2... ugh.

    I really like this idea, except that it would be very difficult to balance it in such a way that it would be accessible to all jobs/classes.

    And in order to balance against the obvious problem of it doing harm to the economy, it could be a challenge feature with unique, probably purely aesthetic rewards, similar to WoW's epic transmog rewards for golding the challenge mode dungeons.

    Please don't do solo mode... They did that with the lotro story quests and it turned into you never ever grouping them. The biggest attractor for me to a Final Fantasy online style mmo was the fact they have historically been very group oriented. FFXI was that way originally (no clue about how it currently is) and I love that for the most part FFXIV is very very group oriented. There are plenty of MMO's out there that cater to solo players heavily even to the extent of limiting group content. Please if you are attracted to mostly solo content enjoy one of them so those of us that love group content at least have one modern mmo that is group oriented. its been a long time since a game with this much group focus has been released...

    yes FF is about team play, they always encourage players to work together and discourage the shouts that say "experience required". They want people to pass on the knowledge.This is FF not every mmo out there. While it is a MMO and they should be paying attention to others, they are trying to create their own mmo not another mmo. They have to say this is us take it or leave it. Otherwise they offer the same product as everyone else, and if your not special why play you? They have said before if you want solo play this isn't the game for you and I love that. it is still FF which is a team based game if you dont want to be a team player, why play? Yes I came across +1 tanks who would say my dps isn't fast enough but they couldn't keep hate off me going slow. I have also come across avg i53 tank who would do pulls I didn't think they could handle and keep hate on all mobs.

    I see both sides of the argument. As a soloer I don't want to have dungeons restyled to cater for me, but by the same token I don't want to hang around for hours waiting on the Duty Finder so I can unlock a core game feature like the retainers.

    Keep the dungeons for those who want to group, that's fine by me, but take the unlocking of core game features out of those dungeons, that's all I would ask.
