    Good luck

Just a question though: do you have a lot of qualitative-oriented courses? Interested to know how american universities tackle the whole quantitative vs. qualitative studies these days.

EDIT: Oh, as the above poster gave you links, I'd suggest you see Sherry Turckle's work as well. She studies how technology is shaping our modern relationships: with others, with ourselves, with it.
(Turkle is a professor in the Program in Science, Technology and Society at MIT and the founder and director of the MIT Initiative on Technology and Self.)

    TED Talk: http://www.ted.com/talks/sherry_turk..._together.html
Her most recent book (exposed in the talk above): http://alonetogetherbook.com
The premise of this book is that “We expect more from technology and less from each other.” Quite an enlightening read from someone who used to be among the most enthusiastic about the whole digital revolution, back in the 90's.

    Oh yes, love her speeches!
She is a bit the counter balance because she believes that we are getting isolated because of technology while Jane believes that online game make you a better person and can help solve real-life problems better.

But yes, you need the 2 sides of the coin so I advise checking her as well.

Completed. I'd love to hear the results! I wanted to do something like this for FFXI, but it never panned out.

I agree. In my personal experience, both sides carry some truth. Games, online or not, are part of what we are as humans; there's a sound argument that it's a factor of the development of intelligence and the need to 'learn', to 'get better' at doing things, and often a strong incentive for a cooperative mindset—I can only agree with that.

I'd say these two authors definitely show interesting angles that are quite complementary, as far as technology shapes us. Good foods for thought that make for a nice meal altogether!
