    Hallowed Ground animation

    Anyone who's tanked coil has had an experience of using Hallowed Ground, seeing the animation go off, skill clearly off cooldown, but still dying. Is this an actual design choice or one of many technical issues that SE has? If it is a design choice (or intentional), why did they choose to make it like this?

    It's an "OH SHIT!" Button for times when it's not really that needed.

    The only time i see it being viable is when the boss is down to approx 5% hp and the other tank goes down due to lags or disconnects.

    That and WP speedruns.

    Yep. Had it happen twice last night in coil. Once in T1 and once in T2. Life drops, hit Hallowed Ground, animation goes off, icon goes up on my status bar, I die. It isn't just Coil though. I've had the same thing happen in AK and WP. It is less of an "Oh ****" button and more of a "I think I may be in trouble soon" button.

    I use it as, "Hey Healer_01, raise that DPS, I'm going HG," or "Hey Healer_02, I'm going HG, get some mana back and get those bards to full health."

    Anyways, Hallowed functions like everything else in the game:
    1 - Activate Ability
    2 - CD is burned/Animation time begins
    3 - Animation time ends/effect is applied

    For a simple comparison, look at RoHalone: You hit it, GCD is triggered and you start slashing away - at this point, you can't use anything else that shares a CD timer (GCD in this case) with RoHalone, but its effects are not applied because the animation time has not finished. HG functions the same way, the CD burns the second you activate it, but the effects don't apply until the animation time is complete. I would assume this is intentional to prevent you from making it an "Oh Shoot" button upon a mistake, requiring more skill and planning.

    I appreciate everyone's response, and I am glad that I am not the only one getting frustrated over this, but this seems to be the only reply that actually answered my question.

    Anyways, I take it that this response implies that it is an unintentional technical issue. Has SE even acknowledge that an issue exists and that they are working to fix it?

    If this is the case, it makes sense. We wouldn't notice it on our other CDs, as they have relatively short Cast Times/Animations. IIRC, the animation for HG has a delay before it starts, even after the CD is used. For this type of ability, the effect should really be getting applied at the start of the animation and not at the end. Nothing like using HG to prevent dying, only to die before the effect starts and have a timer before you can use it again.
