    Aetherflow, a wish, a thought

Edit: I can see how 5 might be OP, but what about 4. There's concern it leads to additional things for summoner like Fester, but I don't think it actually does. You could store a charge at the beginning of a fight, or you could slow your festers down a bit to save for a burst session of a fight (like Titan heart), but I don't think it actually leads to summoner being about to chain 4 festers. They'd get one additional fester, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I am having tons of fun on scholar. Few games manage a healer that can meaningfully contribute to dps and heal at the same time. This is also the first pet-job healer I've ever played.

That said, I was thinking tonight that it would be nice if Aetherflow (the status) could stack up to 5, while Aetherflow (ability) still only gave 3. Personally I find myself using the last charge of Aether sometimes just because Aetherflow is off CD and I want to get a new stack so that the CD starts rerolling so I have it again asap.

    What do you think?

Shield Lob (Can change red text to Tomahawk and it will work perfectly Warriors)

I think you're already strong enough and that won't be needed.

Theoretically you'll be close to having Aetherflow being back off cooldown by the time you need it again. In most speed run cases, the enemy groups will be dead before you need to Bane again (though the limit of 3 targets can make this vary depending on how much your tank pulls). I tend to start with Sacred Soil to help out Eos while I'm applying DoTs, then I Bane, then Swift+Shadowflare once Sacred Soil runs out, Thunder/Aero/Miasma II...and then the mobs generally die within a few seconds after that (make sure to reapply Bio!). That leaves me with one charge of Aetherflow left to play with. Sometimes I don't need the Sacred Soil if I have a good tank, and sometimes I spend it on another Bane, but most of the time I don't need to, and by the time we're ready to fight again, Aetherflow is up and ready. In AK and WP at least it seems to work out well this way.

Energy Drain is powerful spell for its drain, lack of direct cooldown and no MP cost. That's really why it needs limited.

What about a 4 charge limit? I don't want to be able to stockpile charges, but it feels silly to burn a charge, or not use it, because it's smarter to pop Aetherflow now.

Do you think 4 charges is too much?

The problem with that is that jobs don't get any specific traits, so SMN would get that too. And another fester or two is really powerful

Don't wanna derail my own thread, but yeah I was thinking about that on a separate topic.

Wouldn't it be neat if SCH got a trait that made energy drain heal the target's target (so, the tank) and SMN got a trait that made it heal their pet? Nothing substantial, just something.

I'm bad at theorycrafting math and haven't really played smn, but would it actually frequently, lead to additional charges? Does summoner use all of it's charges within a single Aetherflow, or can they regularly have leftover charges? If they don't have leftover charges, this would give them one additional charge at the beginning of a fight, or if they wanted to save for a burst section, like Titan's heart phase.

Drain is very rarely used for HP healing. Maybe in an ohshit moment but otherwise I only use it when I'm in that final burn phase, low on MP or just got revived after messing up. At least as SMN. AS SCH I only really use stacks if I'm dpsing and baning (if I'm in cleric I just play like SMN) or when throwing down a soil/lustrate. Except as SCH I try to keep a stack til aether's off CD, while as SMN I just pop a Fester as soon as it's off cd and my dots are up. I'm already doing 650~1100 damage festers and I hardly have any DL.

I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I just thought it would be a neat trait. Yeah, my Edrain does something like 100hp, Woohoo, not.

Make shroud of saints same cd as aetherflow(60 seconds) and you have a deal.

Btw because sch 2 dots do not miss. You contribute more dps in meaningful fights (Coil) then whm will ever do. Unless they make a new mnd/acc set.

They should make a mind and accuracy set because more playstyle should be supported.
