Fresh 50's should at least have their AF gear from their job quests. This gear is literally given to all players for reaching level cap. I personally don't think there is any excuse for showing up level 30 equipment.Fresh 50's you'll run into on occasion. As a decently geared healer I just tell them to pull small even though it'll bore me to tears. They usually appreciate it as they are new. I don't think you are being unreasonable, but you still have to consider they may be fresh 50 and may not know 49HQ accessories are cheaply available in the AH.
It's not like WP has any hard gear checks, obviously you see these people fresh out of the FATE grind so they probably didn't even get around to doing their job quests I wouldn't doubt they are missing abillities as well as equipment.
Doing the story- and sidequests, FATEs and dungeons nets you a good 200~250k in gil if you're doing your first job from 1 to 50.
Likely more if you Convert your spirit bonded gear and sell the materia.
There is no reason, absolutely none to not go to the nearest market boards and invest in a couple of level ~50 accessoires, even if you're only getting NQ for the transition to better drops or tome gear.
Then those people should shout for like minded people, I am well aware not to expect much from DF runs, but that is even wasting the time of anyone wanting to do a casual run.Maybe you just happened upon people doing some kind of challenge run..?
I'm not too sure if WP/AK will be included in that.

Felis catus
Only 3 weeks left to deal with this, then they won't even be able to get in.
I FATE grinded to 50 on every job aside from my main, PLD. I accrued enough Gil to purchase high-quality jewellery for every job.
With the seals you earn you should have enough to purchase the level 55 weapon from your GC. You should also have your AF gear.
This only leaves your belt, which is one item in your entire gearset which I believe can be overlooked. (Though, personally I made sure to purchase a HQ belt for each job that I didn't already have a belt for from WP/AK.)
I wouldn't expect too much out of it considering the requirement they have in place for CT is ilvl 55. A raid that drops ilvl 80 gear has a requirement of 55, what do you think things like wp/ak or the 2 hms/pharos will have when their raid is that much lower than the gear it drops?
I expect good things when people enter the raid and their group gets absolutely demolished because there's people with ilvl 55 gear. Best thing of it all is that Square will tell people "please wait till 2.2 for ilvl adjustments" because they can't do an actual patch for anything meaningful without it being a huge content patch.

This problem will solve itself in the patch when a minimum gear level for content is instituted.Gear and accessories. I mean, I know that it's Duty finder and that I should not be expecting much, but is it too much to ask that you wear your AF gear at least? I don't expect people to show up in Darklight/allagan gear, but I do hope that you at least have the stuff from your job quests. (Which is adequate.) If you enter these dungeons in level 30 gear you make the dungeon needlessly more difficult for your party members by making them carry you. This isn't fair to them, especially if they're only fairly adequately geared themselves.
Hehe yeah, my favorite was a CM run I did last weekend. Get in, see the warrior tank, <4000hp, full cobalt.. not a lick of AF1. Figured, ah heck, my heals are pretty big, I'll give it a pull see what happens.. It was that point that I realized he didn't even bother to turn on defiance. I was outta that so quick made my own head spin.
