Leaving Dragonhead on Grand Company Chocobo, the game stops in mid flight heading west. The temperature of the unit is pretty cool but I took a long nap while on the character screen and woke up early to log back on. I had just received the 3rd chapter for Lightning Strikes and warped to Dragonhead.

When you started the client back up from it's crash, did it load normally? I've noticed this happens when zoning into Coetheras at times on the PS3. Makes sense though. The weather, the size of the zone (it's decent sized), the amount of people in the zone, the PS3 would be running full tilt to the point of overload. A reboot should do the trick. PS3's just have a hard time loading and rendering all of that data all at once.
