    The Future of Cooking

    Hey everyone,

I was wondering what you all think will happen to the price of food once 2.1 arrives and the food buff persist past death. Will prices drop, will they increase? Will they fluctuate and then stabilize somewhere around current prices?

    1) The frequency at which an individual will buy food will, of course, decrease significantly.

    2) At the same time, most people do not buy food. With the changes of patch 2.1, there is a chance that most people will begin to buy food, so demand on food should also increase significantly.

I'm no expert in this area. What do you guys think?

Sorry if this has been addressed before.

I think this is being over played.

Most dungeon content is player regulated. If they think someone will die it means party wipes and you aren't getting in the dungeon.
DP isn't a big detriment to food buff.

Sorry, I don't even cook, and I only use food for Coil. I'm just curious on a general level. But no one seems to have an opinion, so this thread can die.

It will still stay the same or even the demand will be higher. More people will buy foods because the juice will be worth the squeeze.

I think more people will use food because it won't be wasted if you wipe or die randomly.

I think "persist through death" removes one of the two excuses for not using the food buffs. "I don't wanna waste my money". Having it be a consistent effect rather than one based on performance incentivizes the usage of the buff for risky content when it is most effective.

So all in all, I think it's going to be a positive effect that ultimately will increase the total usage over the long term by making consumption of the item more desireable.

I currently only use food when I think about it, when I want an exp bonus. Don't even care what the bonus are.

I heard that they're changing it so food persists through death...and now I'm leveling CUL. Cos I plan on using it more often and would rather make it myself than buy it.

Don't know if I'm the average player reaction or not, so take that as you will.

With the advent of PvP, I can see the demand for food skyrocketing. This will cause an initial jump in price as existing stocks are utilised to satisfy the new-found demand, but prices will quickly drop to below where they are currently as more players enter the market having seen the lucrative business being done by the early-adopters.

I think the price of HQ food is going to rise since serious raiders will want the maximum effect. This will be offset by how much you have to actually use though. Most pro groups can clear turns 1-4 in an hour so they won't have to use more than 2 food per night for that duration. Most serious crafters have the ability to HQ 100% of the time so you're probably not going to see as much high end NQ food entering the market after the patch.

I agree with MithrasInvictus in two points, the main demand for food in patch 2.1 comes from PVP and the demand rate will be skyrocketing.
As for the pricing, I believe in the end we'll see an overall growth, pulling the price to somewhere it should be at first. As for now, food price is just overall too low.
